okay once i get the list and its time i'll do it Okay, thank you JB. 🙂 And nice theme suggestion too, by the way.
Just like the 2023 Halloween Story….
If no one comes forward with any ‘chapter preferences’ then everyone’s names go into one single drawing.
edwardjohn docpain2 darkharbinger Tanith
Good morning from here, have a good one guys.
I'd prefer to do the kickoff, but as always, I'm flexible.

So, it looks like everyone is pretty much decided on 1500 words max, and 2 chapters each written back to back.
I’m cool with that and will do it happily.
But I’ve still got a couple of questions that keep nagging at me in the back of my mind.
Are we thinking this through enough.
Could back to back chapters possibly set the story going in 1 particular direction too much?
Especially with such a long word count?
Could this end up stifling or hindering creativity and spontaneity in any way?
What could this do concerning the last few chapters, the action leading up to the end, and the ending itself?
Could we somehow accidentally word paint ourselves into corners we can’t get out of?
Don’t know! We’ll find out though. 🙂

Well, that would be part of the challenge, wouldn't it? What was the game Paul Sheldon played in his mind while subjected to the "hospitality" of Annie Wilkes? "Can You", right? Can we?
I believe we can, by the way. We're not just banging rocks together here, we love stories and understand how they're put together.
By the way, I'm fine with whatever part of the story you give me.

By the way, I'm fine with whatever part of the story you give me. Well, it’s not a challenge and we don’t want to turn it into a challenge.
It doesn’t matter how experienced we are or aren’t.
Both the holiday stories are open to every member, the totally inexperienced novice or expert.
There is a reason why we have ‘a variety of authors’ participating.
We don’t want to inadvertently ruin the spirit of the project.
I do not think that will happen, I am not anticipating or looking for any problems to arise.
I’m just doing what I always do and thinking ahead. Sigh….It’s simply how I’m geared.
We don’t want to make any ‘drastic changes’ to the ‘formula the project is based on’.
I answered JB for you, and don’t forget he did have a new suggestion for the themes list. 😊

I'm glad you called that to my attention, wolf, I managed to completely miss JB's post. So as of Monday evening 10/2, here is our list of themes thus far:
1. A small town's Christmas is being overshadowed by inexplicable and macabre vandalism of its decorations.
2. A scarecrow, abandoned after the harvest, is given "new life" by some sinister holiday elves.
3. A newly hired cook/caterer is tasked with preparing a ghastly holiday feast, with help from the "family" that retains his/her services.
4. A small town dreads Christmas rather than anticipates it happily, because of an old and deadly terror from a past Yule.
I'll be heading back to work tomorrow, but I'll keep an eye out here at every opportunity.

That’s all we’ll get.
Edders has actually weighed in with his choice. 🙂
You can tally everything up. 🙂

Morning, all. About to head out, but I'll get the running tally down as it stands. The "titles" you see aren't meant to be the actual story titles, that's just how I have it down in the Word document I've got for this:
Deck the Town: 2
Blood on the Scarecrow:3
The Feast:2
The Shadow of Christmas Past:2
I haven't counted my own vote yet, and I don't think you've voted yet, wolf. And docpain2 has yet to give us a preference.
If I've got anything wrong, I'll fix it this evening. Have a good day edwardjohn, darkharbinger! Write on!!!

If you gave each writer a vote for their theme suggestions, (and it looks like you did) then you’ve got my votes.

Okay, y'all. List is now updated to reflect my choices as well:
Deck the Town: 2
Blood on the Scarecrow:4
The Feast:2
The Shadow of Christmas Past:3
It looks as though the Scarecrow is gonna dash away with the prize!
It's very hard to pick from our ideas, but I think we'll have a great time regardless!

I’m really sick with allergies again, first time in really long time. Taking Benadryl and going back to sleep, the doctor called in a prescription for me. Damn, if it’s not one thing it’s another. I’ll see you guys later. Hopefully tomorrow.
