Why is Ellie being cast as someone twice her age? The new Winsten Churchill looks great, though I prefer the cat from the original adaptation

I know the dog who play Precious in The Silence of the Lambs was in 3 other films.

I'm always leery of a re-make, but John Lithgow as Jud... I'm on board with that. Even though the original Jud (Fred Gwynne R.I.P.) was iconic. Big shoes to fill.

Six more months! d015
I like the look of it and I'm warming up to the changes made. It seems a little too flat for Maine but that's ok. I hope there are enough changes to entertain and entice new audiences without changing the main story too much. I like that they used original font used for title of novel. Red, too.
I hope a scarier, shorter trailer is released later. Something that goes for the jugular. Did you jump when
{Spoiler} That big tanker trunk went by? LOL. I did.

I had to watch it without sound because I’m at school, can someone explain what the people with the masks are supposed to be?

It looks.... interesting. I’m not sure about whatever the masked people were supposed to be (I’m guessing they were children going to bury their pets?). I really don’t like the lighting style however, it looks ugly.

I hope this is just a use of creepy imagery and not a major deviation from the book. It does add to the atmosphere as far as Jud's story goes.

I hope they aren’t supposed to be some kind of Victor Pascow-y ghost characters.

So far I like the little changes I've seen, especially what appears to be the children recreating some sort of pagan burial ritual for their pets (perhaps a nod to the Micmac Indians?). I even like the "Those woods belong to something else" line better than the expected "sometimes dead is better" tag-line. My only qualm so far is Jason Clarke, who always impressed me as a competent if unremarkable actor. Also, as you can probably tell from the trailer, he tends to mumble a bit. Nevertheless, I like this first look and I'm glad we're getting a new version. Oh yeah, and I like this cat. It looks like the same breed used on the cover of the paperback back in the 80s.
