Yap, that scene was funny.
She stated that the name Jae was created by Jonathan Frakes.

Jonathan Frakes always comes across in interviews as a great guy.

I don't have a favorite, but i liked this one, too. Yes, same; Jessica's actually a pro singer!
But all the cast were excellent. osnafrank
Excuse me, its actually CHRISTINA Chong! La'An is played by Christina Chong.

He's totally right about the stand alone episode thing. I much prefer that, in a lot of cases, to the serialised shows.
As for Prodigy, nope, haven't checked it out. I remember the trailer when it first came out and it seemed more like a kids show than anything. Plus, the premise didn't interest me very much. I think it was about a bunch of random folks who discover a starship and somehow become its crew? Its a bit of a silly premise.
But I do believe a lot of the Voyager cast had returned to voice their characters in the show. I believe its set right after Voyager returns home.
To be fair, the prospect of a Star Trek show not dealing with the Federation is very interesting. I'd love a show that followed a Klingon bird of prey, for example.
It would be quite cool to find out how a Klingon ship would deal with a lot of the original series' situations, you know?
But as for Prodigy, nah, haven't checked it out. I never checked out that other animated show, either, and skipped the crossover episode that show had in the last season of ST:SNW, even though I knew Jonathan Frakes directed it.

I've watched two or three episodes, you didn't miss anything. Skipped the crossover episode, too.

Ha! Yeah. And it was a shame, too, because Jonathan Frakes directed that episode. Its really weird that they would give the best director in Star Trek history a half animated episode, which is strange.

Yap, he's one of Star Trek's most prolific directors. I loved the TNG Episodes "The Drumhead" and "Cause and Effect"
I think he also directed an episode of DS9.

Frank, if you could have had a Star Trek show featuring a secondary character as the captain of his ship, who would you have liked?
A common one is Jonathan Frakes as the captain of the Titan. But I would have loved a Sulu led tv show with him as a captain. We got a bit of Sulu as the captain in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. And he also played on that in an episode of Voyager.

Or Dax from DS9 as captain of the Defiant.
