I mean take "Dass for That's".....I remember having to stop and think 'bout that for a minute,
and imagine saying it that way myself, Commander osnafrank .
That clunked for me.
I would have written it in a more recognizible/discernable way.
"Dat's raight, darlin', dat's raight".... that's just the way I would have done it.
(Lol, I knew a great old guy at a laundry I used to work at, that always used to say,
"Dat way it 'fo tuh be."
Sometimes he would say suppo' or spo' tuh be too.
Translation :
"That's the way it's supposed to be."
If he was talking fast at the time,
it could sound like "PhotoBee" to someone who didn't know him well,
and wasn't used to his way of speaking.🙂 )

I always have to remember back to the earlier 90's,
when I used to take the express bus to downtown Dallas.
I was working for a sculptor on the other side of downtown at the time.
I read the Dark Tower Books after that.
And it was fun imagining 'Detta being there and causin' all kinds o' hell!
That Neiman-Marcus WAS right at the corner of Elm and Ervay.
This pic looks EXACTLY like it was taken from my old DART bus stop,
catty-corner from the department store 🙂....
(Just in case anyone was interested in seeing.
not wantin' to be thread jackin'.  )

is a pic that looks like it the last time I saw it.
(It WAS a beautiful store,
especially during the holidays, with all their displays.
MANY times I have walked those sidewalks

AND keep a bootheel on the back of dangerous, vicious Detta's neck. 🙂
Susannah the Lady,
with the best skills/attributes...etc... of BOTH of the other personalities,
and ended up being even MORE. 🙂

Here's just one more and the LAST pic.
( I do not know WHY the upper floors of the building look so different,
compared to the earlier shot from this type of angle.
I'm thinkin' it's because this one waa taken at Ervay and Main.
Main Street is just one street over from Elm.
And the Dallas Library is right cross the street on the right in this pic.)🙂  ....

And remember that Detta Walker is meant to be 180 degree opposite from the cultured and educated Odetta Holmes. Her manner of speech would be rougher and more direct than Odetta's. Odetta was a Lady and Detta was not.

Okay...probably my skewed alc'hol thinkin' at the moment,
but I always sorta thought 'Detta was the 360 degree opposite of Odetta.
And Susannah is the 180 in the middle of both them (but BETTER). 🙂

Detta was supposed to sound like an over exaggerated version of Butterfly McQueen. Roland and Eddie speculated that she did it on purpose, she knew she sounded like a cartoon and did as a joke.

I may be very WRONG about that though, I know. 🙂 Her MPD was extreme, and I think all 3 of 3 told a lot. Like I said... I gotta strange imagination and I use it TOO much.  |

That is very possible. Ironically in all of that, Roland preferred Detta to Odetta. That was why Susannah was the best, she was Detta with Odetta's self control. Every once in a while Susannah talked like someone from the south, not a cultured New York gal
