Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know I will be absent again. My second mom lost her battle with cancer last Wednesday. I was able to go home before she passed and see her, very thankful for that. That is why I was not here last week.
Her funeral is this weekend in Montana. So lots of details to take care of and I just wont be able to be here. I will try to join back in soon.
Big hugs to all. ❤

A very enjoyable tale. Since I haven't read any of these, I get a little lost in the fictional historical world and lineage but find it fascinating. Bran Mak Morn's people are dying but he fights valiantly.

Not familiar with author nor the backstories/ Was an interesting read. Generally not my genre, but will look into other related stories. A lot of brutal battles!

Howard is the author of the Conan stories.

I somehow forgot to post my thoughts on this (a story I suggested as well). This story is so awesome. It reminded me a lot of the movies concerning the Battle of Thermopylae, where a rag tag group of Spartans stood against the entire might of the Persian Empire at a pass in Greece called the Hot Gates. Except in this case we've got a group of north men (Vikings, essentially) going up against an exploratory force of Roman soldiers. And instead of the brilliant King Leonidas, we've got the equally as brilliant Kull of Valusia. The north men manage to fend off the Romans, which in turn leads to total victory for the numerous peoples of Briton, but the north man and Kull lose in the process. A lose the battle to win the war kind of situation.
I love the predicament at the start of the story. The north men refusing to be lead by any of the other Celtic factions, but will indeed be lead by a king not of their army, essentially thinking that such a task, the finding of a king, to be impossible. I also loved how Howard made the uniqueness of each of the peoples; the scenes where Kull is walking amongst the army, very surprised that everything in the future is weird to him, is so great. Its a typical man out of time story, but done so expertly well.
Every time I read Howard I'm reminded of the HP Lovecraft quote concerning him: "For stark living fear, does anyone do it better than Robert E. Howard?"

Howard is the author of the Conan stories. I love the part at the end when Kull is essentially mobbed by a bunch of Roman soldiers.
