I have never seen the original, or read the book so I don't know too much about it. I just know there was one huge change in the new movie that I won't spoil in case someone here doesn't know the new twist.

I just watched the whole thing. Thanks for posting. Are you on board with his The Howling remake if he carries through with his idea? Sounds interesting. I know how much you like Cycle of the Werewolf.

I know how much you like Cycle of the Werewolf. Doc, I've been a fan of Muschietti since Mama. In all his interviews, he's expressed a reverence for the classics, and he said all the right things for a Howling remake. Heck yes, I'd pay to see that!

Tonight I saw a TV commercial for the new movie. Me too. Looking forward to the movie. I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD. The movie theaters around here gross me out too much.

First reactions for Chapter Two are out (you can Google them if you want to; they don't have spoilers), and they are on par with the first film. Everyone pretty much loves it, although a few grumbled about the length (they can of course suck it, cause I'd happily sit through a four hour version). Bill Hader's performance in particular seems to be the standout. This is a surprise for me, as I expected such praise to go to James McAvoy or Jessica Chastain ( ).
What's also interesting is that once again director Andy Muschietti is talking about a Director's cut, except this time it's for both films. So for those of you holding out hope for a DC of Chapter One, I figure it's on the horizon. Knowing the studio though, they'll probably release a DC of the first film after the theatrical release of the second. The old double-dip ploy.
I'm looking forward to chatting with you folks about the new movie in a few weeks!

Heck yes, I'd pay to see that! I'm kind of down with a Howling reboot because there hasn't been a solid mainstream werewolf film in eons. The last good werewolf film I saw as Ginger Snaps, but while its a cult classic, it is no way a mainstream werewolf film, and Dog Soldiers was pretty good, but again, it wasn't mainstream.

A The Howling reboot would be really cool. I love werewolf movies. The genre has taken a huge hit over the years. There's dozens upon dozens of direct to video werewolf flicks that are just awful, and in the world of books, things got worse there as well. A lot of female writers started turning the werewolf genre into more of a romantic thing not unlike what Rice did with the vampire genre. However, there's still gems out there and I mentioned two of them, I also felt Cursed wasn't half bad. Craven just basically did with werewolves what he did with Scream, he used genuine horror mixed with some fun levity. Some didn't care for it but it wasn't bad at all. The Howling: Reborn, I'm torn on that one and that was considered the reboot of the Howling, it just the mothers plans were too big, I mean taking over the town ok but the world? A little overkill. That reminds me, there is one other good werewolf I saw not too long ago, but it isn't new by any stretch of the imagination. Skinwalkers is pretty good, it uses a gimmick that has been used in vamp flicks but it has an ending I didn't see coming, and the cast isn't bad at all. But again, the last mainstream werewolf flick that was decent was Wolf Man but Universal wasn't happy with it, they want to a whole new modern day Universal Monsters franchise so they did Wolf Man, the Mummy, and they were going to do a few others but they seemed to have given up because the box office numbers weren't what they wanted. I think they're getting a little too picky. Its like they expect horror films to do as well as Star Wars or Furious films, that just isn't going to happen, horror has always had a smaller audience and less ticket revenue.
