I really have no idea what to say about this story. It reminded me a lot of the weirder Straub stories in that I had no idea what the heck was going on. Again, the stuff at the beginning is really unnecessary and doesn't have real bearing on what is to follow. I can understand Steve doing something that isn't strictly in his wheelhouse, but this story really didn't work for me.

Everytime I see a Peloton bike commercial this story comes back to me. It is a rollercoaster ride in parts- confusing. Guess it's about mortality- obsession with use of the bike- realization of reality. I did like the ending.

I liked this story. Steve kind of goes into parallel worlds territory but in a humorous way. The story pokes fun at the lifestyle adjustments we have to make as we get a little older. I thought the conversation with the doctor at the beginning was hilarious. I thought it was funny the way the body was rebelling against the excessive diet and exercise adjustments. I think the moral of the story was take care of yourself but have some fun too.
I think of this one more as a humor story but Steve still managed to sneak some tension in there when it looked like the Lipid crew was ready to kill.

I have a suggestion for next week - could we do "Mile 81"? It's available in Bizarre of Bad Dreams (and probably somewhere else originally) - I'll have to go look it up

Apparently it's also available as an E-book? (Mile 81, that is)

We are reading through Just After Sunset right now. I was thinking of doing the Bazaar Of Bad Dreams book after we finish Just After Sunset. So, we will get to Mile 81 a little later.
