This is an interesting story where total destruction is creation.
The gang of teens is disdainful of adults. This story was written in 1954 and I wonder if the relationship between the gang and the adults represents what was beginning at that time. I think that in the mid 50s the generation gap really started to widen more than previous times and maybe this is what the relationship between the gang and the adults represents. The burning of the money shows contempt for the adults or material things. The destruction may represent a destruction of the old ways to make room for the new ways.
Or it may just be a bunch of as*hole kids.

Their actions demonstrate immaturity and the lack of the understanding and impact not only to themselves but Mr. Thomas as well. Agree on the destruction representing the old ways to make way for the new. Destruction and creation. Changes in the world. Adolescence and rebellion.

Suggestions for the next group read? We are still at least a couple weeks away from picking an SK collection. My Billy Summers still hasn't got here. I got a notice a week ago it had been shipped but the only thing that's actually been done was a label was printed by CD. FedEx hasn't picked up the package yet. CD is soooo slow with everything.
Anyway, lets stick to the public domain for two or three more weeks.
