This time last year we had a freak snow storm which took down thousands of trees all over the city - it was a real mess.
Today all we got was a bit of rain - well - it is still raining but that's better than snow!
This is from CBC news:
"On the Thanksgiving long weekend in 2019, more than 30,000 city-owned trees were damaged or downed.
Branches landed on homes, on top of vehicles and took out power lines after a massive snowstorm walloped the province; thousands of hydro poles snapped, and entire communities were without power, some for days".

Mostly clear skies, sunny but chilly, 8C/46F.... Don't your trees turn various colours like ours do over here in Canada? (just curious Notaro)

Woke up to snow on the ground this morning. I wasn't ready! (But I'm never ready for snow in October.)

I know that feeling (sigh) - here we go again - the beginning of another long winter - maybe this year I should try to embrace it and get out there walking, but I don't like freezing my butt off

Looks like rain for a few days. That's better than a tropical storm at least! herbst-smilie_015
Here it's cold and yucky - my feet are freezing - guess I better go find something warm to put on them; looks like my days of going barefoot in the house are over (at least until we can get that furnace going again)

It's approximately minus 3 C (I know that is below freezing in F) - okay - just looked it up and it's 26 F
So the tech to fix our furnace came in - bad news/good news?
Think I will do the good news first - we do not need a NEW furnace
Bad news - it will cost over $600 for a new circuit board. Since we were getting that anyway, I asked for the price of a new humidifier as the one attached to the side of the furnace is kaput. - That will be $685 - yikes!
It costs $95 an hour for labour so all told with taxes I'm guessing we are looking at a pretty high bill.
I suppose I could call another company and ask for a second opinion but this company has a very good rating with the BBB so I'll just have to trust them
