Today we will discuss That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French by Stephen King from Everything's Eventual
(The story title is so long it will not fit in the Thread title so I abbreviated it a little)

Today we will discuss That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French by Stephen King from Everything's Eventual
(The story title is so long it will not fit in the Thread title so I abbreviated it a little) A horror story from the master! Well, the master after HP Lovecraft anyway. So, this is hell I assume? Its a lot like the idea of Muslim hell, the same day repeated over and over. I assume that Carol and Bill got rich through drugs, selling it I assume, or manufacturing? They died in a plane crash and are now in hell for their sins. Man ... They get what they deserve honestly. My favourite line, "If Jerry Lee-Lewis went to hell for playing Boogie Woogie, then that's exactly where he would go."

Good read, so King. Repetitious, allusion to the max. Was Carol in a srt of "hell" because of her religious guilt?

This excellent tale is kind of a mindbender. The plane crash is implied but we are not certain it happened. It could be a dream or we could be in hell.
I'm going to go back and look at it and see if I can pick up on the drug thing Ed mentions.

The drug dealers mentioned were the upstairs neighbors, not Bill and Carol.

This is a very creepy story. It has been on my mind since I read it last night.
The husband was a software designer. That is where their money came from.
Not sure why they are in "hell" but it was mentioned several times that they had secrets, secrets they kept from each other and secrets they kept together. The aborted baby was one of those secrets. And she had strong religious belief...maybe not belief, quite, but it definitely shaped her.
Deja vu is such a weird thing. It always makes me feel very nervous when it happens. But I have never had a feeling if doom accompany it.

Any chance of, or have you done these discussions for, SK novels?

Any chance of, or have you done these discussions for, SK novels? On the SKMB The Stand was read as a different group. But the regular reading group discussion has always been short stories on a weekly basis. The Stand was broken up into the parts, and I believe discussed monthly.
