I was swimming in an extinct collapsed volcano in Hawaii and saw a shark fin near me... it wasn't a big fin, but still... it was a shark. I had ignored the warnings and went well beyond the reef. So I swam back to reef at Olympic speed and stood on top of it... didn't want to be a DiO snack. That reef tore my skin to shreds. Waited till that fin was well gone to head into shore because I was bleeding and didn't want to take any more chances.

Well, I would have been the equivalent of a Bourbon Ball with all the alcohol I consumed the night before.
My oldest daughter was cheering at some college basketball championship being held in Oahu. I remember the small snorkeling tour bus I was on to get to Hanauma Bay. I got the one open seat on the tour booked by the Michigan basketball team. At 6’0” I was the second smallest person on the tour (a female trainer was shorter than me). The tour bus owner told me she had to go to every place on the big island that rented flippers in order to find the largest ones they had in order to fit these giants on this tour. One of the things I remember most about Hawaii was the beautiful and exotic birds and flowers at a botanical garden I visited. That, and how terrible Poi tasted.

They may be tiny, but they pack a mighty bite without the aid of poison or venom or anything small animals usually have to be deadly with. They’re also gentlemen/womanly, only opting to take small, non lethal bites out of their much larger prey and then going on their merry way. They were known to destroy submarines and naval fleet in the Cold War by swarms of them biting chunks out of passing marinal vehicles, due to them being an unknown species until the 1980s or so and the fact they were so small they were unnoticeable, both the American and Soviet Navy were convinced the other sides must have developed some new invisible anti-naval weapon due to just how destructive and consistent the multiple bites were to their navy.
