I loved this story - even told Andy about it (sort of gave him a synopsis) - I liked how he described the woman's feelings. The fact she was a cop's wife helped her in the end
It was a neat short story with a good ending.

Maybe you shouldn't tell your husband how much you liked this.

When I described the weapon he was nodding his head, as if he could imagine that being used

I don't even like lamb, but this story makes me want to keep a leg of lamb in the freezer.
Just in case.

It was so great to have the police eat the murder weapon.
Dahl should have made the weapon a bag of frozen donuts.

It was the perfect crime. She got away with it so easily that when I finished reading it, I wondered if the lady could have done it again and again. Who knows how many guys she might have married and then smashed in the head with a leg of lamb.

I hope this video works. It's the full episode of Lamb to the Slaughter from Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Awesome story-- perfect crime--perfect murder weapon. May never look at a leg of lamb the same!
The devoted wife murders her husband with the perfect weapon, and the evidence is no more..... Loved it!

I really liked this story. Especially the little giggle at the end while her husbands friends were eating the murder weapon. Thats the way to do it!!!

I enjoyed this story a lot, too. The husband deserved to get smashed in the head with the leg of lamb.
Would you believe this is the first Dahl story for me, ever?!? I am familiar with several of the movies but have never read him before. I did buy a collection of short stories by him a while back on a daily deal, called Switch Bitch. I just looked at it and it has 4 stories in it. I was surprised by the title and a blurb said it was not the Dahl you knew so it intrigued me. I didn't even know he wrote things other than kids books. Might have to move it up on the tbr like after reading the lamb story.

I stumbled across this and thought it might be useful. This is a list of the anthologies Road Dahl has appeared in. I remembered correctly that he was in many of the Alfred Hitchcock anthologies. If you click the book, you can see what story he contributed.

Question. Are we going to do the Peter Straub collection after EE, it doesn't bother me if you decide not to, its so that I know weather to order it or not, as I do have several PS collections, but not those stories included in that book. Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, we are planning on it but it's going to be a while. We are alternating EE stories with other ones so it will probably be at least a couple of months. The kindle version is only 4.99 right now (at least in the US).
