I never saw the story unfolding and the main character was just meeehhhh. Usually i remember the characters from a SK Book, even the side characters.
But i don't even remember the name of guy, last thing i remember, he picks up a hitchhiker.
And then i stopped reading. I understand completely. Until last night, I couldn’t put the story together at all and was ready to put it aside. It just felt like a bunch of random disjointed “scenes”. The main character is named Bart, but sometimes he calls himself George....I’m still trying to figure out why. I’ve reached a point where I realize what some of his problems are ( marital, financial), so I feel like I can keep reading now. I still hope it gets more enjoyable though. Yap, this book was like a disjointed series...you watch part 1 and then you have to watch part 5. The German name of this book is "Sprengstoff", it means Explosives in english. {Spoiler} I know he buys some explosives

Sometimes when a book is hard to get through, I’ll just sort of skim a few pages....kind of detach myself and not read as attentively until something happens that captures my attention again. I feel like I might end up doing that with Roadwork.

Alright, that's it. I'm officially giving up on Roadwork. For now.
I cheated and read a bunch of reviews & synopses of it online. A lot of people say they couldn't get through it or didn't enjoy it the first time around, but when they went back and read it again years later, they liked it.
I probably won't be one of those people.
