A Thread just for Bachman Books.

So continuing what osnafrank said in the other thread: "Blaze is one Bachman's best, in my humble opinion.
His Books aren`t as scary as the SK Books but they contain more (everyday) violence."
I would agree that Blaze wasn't a scary one. It was a little disturbing, with the kidnapping and all, but I actually found myself rooting for Clayton sometimes, hoping he'd live happily ever after with the rich couple's baby that he really seemed to love . I mentioned in the other thread that The Regulators is probably the scariest one I've read so far. Something about Tak really freaks me out--his ruthlessness, using the little boy as a host, and the complete decimation of the neighborhood. He's an unforgettable villain--the kind of guy that gives me nightmares.

But it seems like you always root for the "bad guys" in the Bachman Books (Except The Long Walk and The Running Man).

(And by the way I'm sorry I didn't us a spoiler on my post. ) I'm not sure if I can say I always root for the bad guys in the Bachman books because I certainly wouldn't root for Tak....but I do sympathize with some of the not-so-nice-guys, including the guy from Thinner.

I wonder if King realized by "banning" his story Rage, it would cause people to seek it out more.

I still have my hardcover copy of the 4 story compilation from the 80's, pre-banning.

Still mulling it over...I might ask Santa for it.

I guess this is also the place to mention that I read Blockade Billy over the weekend. It was alright--A little heavy on the baseball details for me, but it was a nice short story. I kinda think it would have made a good episode for either Nightmares & Dreamscapes or a segment for an anthology horror movie.
Oh--And my book also contains "the chilling bonus story" Morality....which was pretty blah & depressing. Luckily I only used up about 20 minutes of my life on it.

Liked it a lot, love the way we all get to see what is under the surface of all the kids .

It's about 40-50 bucks on ebay.I just put it in the cart. Sometimes I buy myself stuff and then I tell people to hide it and give it to me for Christmas. This might be one of those items....

And SK has no equal when it comes to writing about kids and teens. Noone else is even close.

Last night I got a copy of The Bachman Books in hardcover at a used bookstore for only 10 bucks. When I looked on ebay, the paperbacks were going for $40-50, so I figured this was a good deal. It’s not in mint condition or anything, but I’m glad to have it. I’m really excited to read Rage as well as the other stories.( Man, poor Lisey’s Story keeps getting bumped further down the priority list!)

I'm serious!I got it at that place called Bookman's which I've been mentioning a lot lately. You know the old saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure"? Apparently, the Bookman's employees have this kooky idea that I'm trading in treasure.

Hmmm. I can't find that other thread about The Long Walk...
But I finished this novel last night and almost cried a little when Pete McVries decided he couldn't walk anymore.😔 He was my favorite.

I'm reading Roadwork now. I'm not thrilled with it--the main character is not very likable. But the story is unfolding and I'm just beginning to understand what's going on, so I'm gonna stick with it.
Any thoughts on this one?

I never saw the story unfolding and the main character was just meeehhhh. Usually i remember the characters from a SK Book, even the side characters.
But i don't even remember the name of guy, last thing i remember, he picks up a hitchhiker.
And then i stopped reading.

And then i stopped reading.I understand completely. Until last night, I couldn’t put the story together at all and was ready to put it aside. It just felt like a bunch of random disjointed “scenes”. The main character is named Bart, but sometimes he calls himself George....I’m still trying to figure out why. I’ve reached a point where I realize what some of his problems are ( marital, financial), so I feel like I can keep reading now. I still hope it gets more enjoyable though.
