What are your favorite Rock and Roll books? (Inspired by Wicked Esther's journey into the life of Bon Scott)
Mine?
Hammer of the Gods (Zeppelin)/The Dirt (Motley Crue)- I'm not sure which one is sleazier. Decadence at it's finest.
Altamont- The tale of the ill fated Rolling Stones concert.
Van Halen Rising- A surprisingly detailed account of Van Halen's early years.
Long Hard Road out of Hell- This book will make you realize how smart Marilyn Manson really is. I didn't say he was a god guy. But he is very intelligent.

Here— I took a picture of a few of my favorites. Kiss Alive Forever is easily the most informative book on the band’s history since most of their early days were spent touring. I used that book as a resource literally every single day back when I collected bootlegs, so it fell apart. My husband put that spiral binding on it for me. The Lydia Criss book is beyond words. The Alice Cooper biography is probably loaded with inaccuracies, but it’s fun anyway. Attachment Deleted

GREAT book, for sure. The Larry Harris book is good too because it's a glimpse behind the scenes at Casablanca. So it covers more than just Kiss-you get some Parliament and Donna Summer stories. Oddly enough I can't remember if he said much about the Village People.

Oddly enough I can't remember if he said much about the Village People. What about Angel? What about Lipps Inc.? I just had a flashback and remembered that when we were kids, my cousins and I would hold our noses and sing "Gotta make a move to a town that's RIGHT for me..." to get that authentic Funkytown sound. Back to your topic though.....No One Here Gets Out Alive was one of the first rock bios I read as a teenager, and it's still one of the most memorable. I think that was the book that opened my eyes to the fact that some of these these guys might make great music, but they're not exactly people I'd want to hang out with.

The Marky Ramone book is pretty good, he also talks about how he met a certain author.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the first time Lipps Inc has been mentioned in public since 1982.

I would love to see that....There are so many interesting characters associated with Casablanca, including the recording artists themselves and the goofballs behind the scenes. I can't remember why the movie was put on hold...? I really hope it gets picked up and finished.

One of the best has to be Tune In by Mark Levisohn about the Beatles. A trilogy of books extremely wellresearched. Only one has surfaced yet called Tune In but he says he is researching and writing the second and that the first took ten years and it was published 2013 so we might have to wait a bit longer for the second part. The first part in the trilogy is mostly about the time before the breakthrough. John and Paul meet, Paul introduce George to John and diverce adventures they have. The entrance of Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe, the exit of Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe, the story of how they was backupband to Tony Sheridan and their tour in sweden. I liked the interviews with the wellknown swedish artists they appeared together with in these shows. And then a contract, George Martin and Ringo Starr comes along. They had known him a long time since he was drummer at their local concurrents Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.
