I'm about half way through this and it occurred to me the other day that Edgar Freemantle has the same last name as Mother Abigail from The Stand. Is that just a coincidence?
I'm enjoying the book--As someone mentioned elsewhere, the character development is excellent. There's just one thing that's bothering me. It seems that Edgar hardly talks or thinks about his "other " daughter,Melinda. I know it's normal and natural to be closer to some one, (or some) of your kids than others, but I find Edgar's closeness to Ilse a little too lop-sided.
Maybe my perspective will change as I keep reading. I dunno. That's just my observation at this point.

Thank you for that. I figured it was more than coincidence, but.... I couldn't tell if they were directly related or if Freemantle is a common name in some places or what the deal was.

I finished Duma Key and really loved this one. I miss Edgar Freemantle already.

One more thing I want to post here, mainly as a reminder to myself before I put the book away....
There's a subtle Kiss reference on pg 184 of the hard cover copy. When Wireman and Edgar are talking about the families who will be renting places on the beach for the season,Wireman says, "I can hope that none of them will be the rock-and-roll-all-night,party-every-day type, but what are the odds?"
