I have a desktop pc and changed from a wireless to wire mouse, as when playing games there was a small time delay. Due to not playing as many games and trying to reduce wires have gone back to a wireless mouse, am on my third wireless mouse, that has problems too. Do I go back to wire or get a good gaming mouse ?

Depends highly on the mouse.
Nothing beats a wired keyboard or mouse in terms of latency. Almost all wireless models exhibit some form of input lag, but it's often so small that you'd hardly ever notice.
Mice like the Logitech G700s or Razer Mamba allow the computer to have a 1000 Hz polling rate.

Since I set the trap in the basement, my mouse is not doing too good.

I don't do a lot of gaming but I'm sticking with my wireless mouse - it's the wireless keyboard that sometimes acts up I have a desktop pc and changed from a wireless to wire mouse, as when playing games there was a small time delay. We saw in the basement where mice had tried to build a nest in the pink insulation down there (gasp!) - our basement isn't finished
(and yes - I know you are joking)
Q: What is mouses favourite game? A: Hide and squeak
Q: How does a mouse feel after a bath? A: Squeaky clean
Okay - I will stop now
Back to the mouse questions (serious ones)
{Spoiler} I saw a mouse in the house and took a picture - although he didn't say cheese, I knew he was thinking it
