I got the hardcover of Doctor Sleep but now I'm a little concerned damaging the dust jacket.
I heard there's a company called Brodart or something that makes clear plastic covers for dust jackets but I can't seem to get anyone from their site to give me the basics on which type I need based on DS's dimensions.
Saw Youtube videos but they make it actually seem difficult to put them on.
So my question is, does anyone know of anything similar that just goes on with ease, or is that as easy as it gets? And if so, which type do I get?

I did see one place called bags unlimited dot com
Good luck!

I use the cheap fabric book covers that you can get at walmart around this time of year, in the back to school supplies. Just take the dust jacket off and put the cloth one on while I'm reading the book, then the dust jacket stays nice!
I do recommend getting the extra large ones though. The regular size ones are a tad small for some of the thicker books.

I first heard about Brodart covers from kingricefan who uses them for his extensive book collection. He hasn't checked in for a while. Hope he's here soon and can give you some pointers Deviancy. (They look really complicated to me as well.)

I first heard about Brodart covers from kingricefan who uses them for his extensive book collection. There used to be a bookstore out here who actually would put them on for the buyer for like five bucks, and they did an excellent job. Sadly, there are no longer any book stores within 20 miles, if that, and what is left is Barnes and Noble. The publishers should do it themselves, I mean they come right off if one doesn't want it. Personally however, I plan on sealing it so it doesn't come right off, if I can figure out which one I need and can do it. Was Kingricefan a member of the official forum as well? I figured now that it's closed, at least the last I checked they were shutting down on the 30th, more would end up here. But maybe some are taking a break....

Yes, kingricefan was an active member on the SKMB. And sadly it did close on the 30th. Hopefully more members will make their way over here.
If he doesn't check in soon, I'll look through my email and see if I have his address.

I didn't get to post there often due to the 2-3 day thing but it was fun.
As for covers, they recommend something called a bone tool or something to flatten the edges, I imagine Ebay has those as well.

eBay....Amazon.....should have that. Dry-cleaning and Commercial laundry supply houses too. Bone tools have many uses. Pro commercial drycleaners use them for gently working spots and stains on all fabrics to get them out. It's something that plastic, metal etc isn't well suited for. ....because of the chemicals involved.

This place is actually educational!
Hey @kurben - you are the archaeologist - what do you know about bone tools?

Never heard of Bone Tools in connection with books. But in digs when we got close to a skeleton we used brushes of different kind to take the last of the dirt away so the bone was uncovered to be drawn and photographed. There was a lot of this work at a dig where we dug out a medieval cemetary in Iceland. I practically wallowed in skeletons!!

The one guy on Youtube who walks people through applying the covers says its the best tool to use to flatten out the plastic folds.
But 15 dollars for the tool and 10 for the cover, when I only paid 18 for the book... bit much. However, if I do get the hardcover version of IT, and continue to go the hardcover route, it may be worthwhile in the end. I need to go into deep thought on this one.
And bone tool... that just sounds spooky and/or pervy....
But well... I watched too many episodes of Beavis and Butthead in the 90's.
