I'm not sure if there's already a thread for this movie. If there is, I couldn't find it, so ....here we are. This is one of my favorite short stories, and I finally got around to checking out the movie over the weekend. The characters were not exactly the way I imagined them (Barbara Hershey as the mom??? Whaaa?), but I enjoyed it anyway. Some good oldies in the soundtrack, too.

Have not read the story and not sure what book it is in. I watched the DVD a couple of times, that was never returned from a lend and did not bother to replace it. The story in the book sounds better than the film.

The story in the book sounds better than the film. Riding the Bullet is in Everything’s Eventual. If you’re doing the group reading discussions here, we’ll probably get to it in late October or early November since we’re reading our way through EE and “Bullet” is the second to last story in there. I hope you can join us .It’s a perfect story to read in the fall. 👻

Thanks for reminding me: I'll have to re-watch this. I recall enjoying it when the film was newly released, although it suffered from mixed reviews (I think mostly because people seem to dislike director Mick Garris's work).

Looking forward to your thoughts when you get to re-watch it. I was skeptical of Barbara Hershey being cast as the mom. I thought she was too attractive to play that role--and it's still not how I picture the character "Jean" when I read the story. But she turned out to be alright after all. I know I watched this movie for free with Roku, but I can't remember what channel it was on.
