Some flicks never had a chance. Usually gargantuan Box-Office bombs, or unknown classics buried by B-movie grindhouse reputation. They called ‘em bad back in the day, but I say some of em are pretty cool.
Im sure most of you’ve heard of this legendary flop—over budget, over long, over coked Michael Cimino’s follow-up to Deer Hunter. Yeah, it’s long, but, derf, that’s why god made Pause. Folks that can binge-read thru King’s Dark Tower or view seven episodes of Walking Derf in a row won’t have a problem with it. I dig the heck out it.

This next one angered its premier audience so much they pulled and shelved it a couple of years. And to tell ya the truth, it took me years to check it out. Anybody knows me knows what a Chandler freak I am, and that The Long Goodbye is my fave of his Marlowe novels. So, as a bitchy teen, I never cottoned to the idea of Robert Altman updating his adaption of T.L.G from the 50s to the 70s. Blasphemy, I always said.
Now as a man on the crotchety side of his 40s, and living in this lame-o dystopian clusterfook, I finally managed to check out Altman’s adaption of my favorite novel, and was blown away. Imagine Philip Marlowe shambling around the same sort of L.A. you see in Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time...in Hollywood, and you’re gettin there. And a drunken, stoned Sterling Hayden channeling his inner John Huston and ad-libbing his lines as Roger Wade, well...that’s the kinda stuff I watch movies for. Check it out, if you dig noir, the 1970s, or Raymond Chandler. I’ll buy ya a drink.

For the record, none of these movies are "bad": They were box office bombs or never given a chance by the general population, but grew to be beloved and/or appreciated films. At least by me, anyway.
The Shining and Dr. Sleep were both box office failures. Both grew into their status as classic films after the fact.
Terminator Dark Fate. Like, no one saw this in the theaters. But I thought it was very solid. A lot better than recent outings in the franchise.
By my personal favorite choice would be Dazed & Confused. Very limited theater release. Like most cult classics, it didn't catch on until it hit home video.

Ohhh if we're talking about famous flops, Willow is one of my favorites.
