I thought it was time to open this thread. Always interesting to hear about your latest SK buys (and others too)

I will start. Looking through local buy and sell ads and saw SK hardcovers listed. Bought hardcover/first edition of the original 'The Stand' and 'The Bachman Books' in new condition and paid $20.00 for the pair. Soooo happy I've been looking for these 2 books for years. The seller delivered them last night. They are still sitting on the livingroom chair, can't stop looking at them. Just can't believe my luck.

They must be in good condition then and how nice of the seller to deliver them to you. I buy most of my books at Value Village and have been quite lucky in the past but not so lucky lately.
I'm looking forward to seeing what is available in Bangor at the used book store - that should be a fun trip!
Congratulations on your purchase.
{wish kingricefan were here - it seems he is often lucky with book purchases}

Thanks Morgan . I know we don't get the deals in our thrift stores that you do in yours. Many of the local thrift stores here are only accepting paperbacks now. So the hardcovers are showing up on the local buy/sell website. She had 15 more -- most of them hardcovers and wanted $25. for the lot. She had bought them for her husband each Christmas. He would buy the paperback she said and read it to keep the h/c new. She told me I was the only person to call about purchasing and the ad had been up for a month.

The remaining 15 books must not be as rare as the ones you bought, or I'm sure you would've snagged them too!
I don't have much luck finding SK books at thrift stores either. We only have a couple thrift stores and one tiny used bookstore. I live in Podunk, USA. LOL
Not many SK fans around here either. So depressing. At Barnes & Noble, whenever a new King book is released there is usually only one copy missing from the display when I get there. I always joke that I need to find out who the other local SK fan is, because I've never met one in "real life."

I remember seeing Christine/Carrie/Misery/Gerald's Game/Black House/The Dark Half. That's all I remember. I should look on the site to see if she re posted them.

I don't think it's the same ISBN as the 1st edition. Wow, could you imagine? A first edition is going for around 8 thousand dollars!

Gosh, I wouldn't know for sure unless I saw the cover page and dust jacket - and those 1970's first editions can be tricky. The dust jacket would have a price of $5.95 and the cover page would state "First Edition." The publication year is correct. Didn't you say that the lady selling them told you she bought the books as they were released?

If I remember correctly, that cover is from a reprint from the 1990's maybe. A later edition though, most definitely. I think it was king rice fan who stumbled upon a hardcover first edition at a thrift store for like $2.99!! I probably would've fainted and not made it out of the store! I have a first edition paperback, but obviously, not in the same ballpark!

Yeah."

Not to mention, Rain Man's famous K-Mart underwear - because after fainting I probably would've piddled while unconscious!
