I actually finally read Cujo. Very clever writing, rather tense in places, a few laugh out loud bits. But when I got to the end, I literally cried.

I know Cujo was portrayed (in his altered state) as the antagonist, but I can't help but feel sorry for the pooch.
Love dogs. What can I say.

You know, it just dawned on me recently that I've never read Cujo. I've only seen the movie dozens of times. I have a paperback copy I'll have to get to, maybe by the end of this year.

It is sad what happened to the dog. He wasn't a bad dog, what happened was just crap luck on everyone's part.

It is sad what happened to the dog. He wasn't a bad dog, what happened was just crap luck on everyone's part. Isn't that the case in so many SK books though? I've always felt sorry for Carrie White, too. She just had crap luck and ended up with that ultra-kooky mom . When I read the book as a kid, I kept imagining how much better her life could have been if she could have just come over to my house after school and listened to records with me.

When I read the book as a kid, I kept imagining how much better her life could have been if she could have just come over to my house after school and listened to records with me. you rarely find a complete unsympathetic character in a SK book (pennywise is one of the few i can think of) I can remember times I actually felt bad for Flagg, it was in Wolves of the Calla... “You’re cruel!” he bursts out. Walter’s eyes widen, and for a moment he looks deeply hurt. This may be absurd, but Callahan is looking into the man’s eyes and feels sure the emotion is nonetheless genuine. And the surety robs him of any last hope that all this might be a dream, or a final brilliant interval before true death. In dreams – his, at least- the bad guys, the scary guys, never have complex emotions. “I am what ka and the King and the Tower have made me. We all are. We’re caught.”

I finally picked up a copy of Cujo and started it over the weekend. smilie_girl_freude
I'm only on page 36 and it's already a thousand times better than the movie. Thank Gosh my mind blocks me from imagining that kid from "Who's the Boss" as Tad.

I'm just about to finish reading Cujo. Actually, the further I get in the book, the more I think the movie might not be so bad. It's actually pretty close to what's written, although I probably wouldn't have chosen Dee Wallace to play Donna. I picture that character as being a bit more rough around the edges.

She was one of the genres IT actress at the time (See, also Wolfen), so I get why they cast her. Was she right for the role? Ehhh...I wasn't sold on her.

I'm sure it was all bout getting the popular actress to play the part. Dee is just too cute and sweet for the role. Donna comes across ,to me, as a cold, selfish person. Another observation about Cujo---the damn dog may be the character I sympathize with most! The humans all bother me! Well actually....the kid, Brett Cambers is pretty smart and honest. I guess I like him the best out of all the human characters.
