I think Larry Underwood's insecurity makes him more like-able. If he was confident, he's come off as a pompous jackass and we couldn't sympathize with him.
That's my 2 cents.

I’ve read The Stand but have not seen the miniseries Jamey Sheridan most definitely is not my pick for Flagg, though his acting was good. The guy who played Larry was a good choice, I think he filled the bill alright.
As far as Underwood goes, I liked him, then I didn't like, then got to like him again. I think he just had his highs and lows, just like all of us do.

BOC's "Reaper" should definitely be in The Stand mini-series, it's the quote/song which inspired the book after all. Have not checked out The Stand book, I tend to avoid most of Steve's "Greatest Hits" books, IT, The Stand etc. I pick a lot of Steve's not so well known books, and stuff that I think I would be interested in. I know a lot of people on the SKMB are REALLY into him and have got all of his books, but there are so many other authors which I am a fan of. But I have checked out most of his books.

No one said anything about Don't Fear The Reaper. I said, can you and Panda write enough can mail to get BOC to do the song Baby Can You Dig Your Man. I'm watching you, Eddie Spaghetti! olfEOEbpO0rxuamBULVg
You are doing yourself a disservice by NOT reading The Stand. It is a great novel. And since you loved Flagg so much, in the miniseries, you're really going to love him in the book! .....there's you a summer reading assignment, kiddo. Now then! What did you think about Larry Underwood, based on what you know about him from the miniseries? (Much richer, more interesting characters in the book. Especially Laura SanGiacomo's Nadine, who was a composite of TWO characters in the tv tv ser.)

I can remember liking Larry, but again, my knowledge of him is from the nineties mini-series, which is a bit dated. I'm pretty sure that Flagg in The Stand is different from Flagg from TDT. I'm not certain what happens at the end of The Stand book but I'm pretty sure he gets defeated. Flagg seems like Steve's "bogeyman", he is a force that evil creates. I love Flagg in TDT right enough. As for the BOC replying to fan mail, I doubt it. I sent fan mail to a few of the members and was met with crickets, they are probably busy guys right enough. The BOC probably deal with fan mail in a similar manner to that of Steve.

Just for the hell of it! 😉 Don't forget what the Ramones did with Pet Sematary. If you loved Flagg on the small screen, you're definitely going to adore him in the book, almost as much as you do diobolic !😜😉 Flagg doesn't die at the end of the book......defeated?! ......silly kiddo.....there are other worlds than this. And other cola's than Nozz-A-La toooo. 😉
