I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but ...
Does anyone here subscribe to Youtube Premium? I'm thinking of getting it for my Dad, but don't know anyone who has it, so I just wanted a little feedback.
The ads sure are getting obnoxious on the free version.

Never had it and never heard something good about it. All i know is, it`s pretty pricy and if you`re looking for a Netflix/Amazon Prime substitude, it isn`t worth it.

Ok, thank you.😎 My Dad has Netflix, but he really likes watching musical stuff ,performances, etc on Youtube. You’re right— it is pricier than other streaming services. It’s $17.99 a month, I think for the family plan. I’d share it with my Dad,probably my brother and a couple of my kids, but still....we do that already with other channels that cost less, so I was surprised. I’m gonna wait and think about this a little longer.🤔

I had YouTubeTV, just to watch Cobra Kai and the interface was horrible. Plus, you NEED a Gmail address, which I had to create. Grrr.
But YouTube Premium? I wouldn't spend money on it. Sure, the ads are annoying, but for the most part, you can skip them after like 5-10 seconds.

Ok, this is the kind of feedback I was looking for to help me decide--thank you, guys.
I guess I'll skip it. A lot of the problem is that my Dad is willing to adapt and USE technology, but not savvy enough (he's almost 80) to set things up by himself. He'd probably be up for paying for the Premium subscription himself, but he'd never set up a Gmail account. I can't even get the guy to email me back on the crappy old Yahoo account he already has--he tries to type the whole reply in the subject area!

Oh, and HBO Max and Peacock aren't available on Roku.
See, this is precisely why we still need physical media.

A little trick i've learned today.
If Netflix freezes or gets stuck loading, enter the following sequence using the arrow keys on your device's remote: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.

LOL... I tried this method on all four of our household cars. It doesn't work.

*pats the stack of unfinished books on her nightstand* May we never stop needing it. Hello, fellow FAQ'er!
This thread seems like a good spot to share my own dilemma. I'm not a streamer, you see. Never have been. I don't care for binge-watching, and I was perfectly happy to wait until something is available through the aforementioned physical media, check it out from the library, and watch at my leisure.
Until now.
A certain life-long favorite show of mine is going to begin running its 60th anniversary specials a week from tomorrow......and the only way I'll be able to watch is through Disney Plus, if I don't want to wait months for an American DVD release. I was resolved not to succumb to this...but I'm wavering, I admit. And hell, it's my Doctor, dammit!!!
So my question is for those of you who have Disney Plus. Do you like it? I'd be watching on a computer--either this old library one or my gaming laptop. I don't know whether the TV is a "smart" one or not, but I don't want to spend a lot of time assling around with it. The thing does what I want it to do--play DVD's. I wanna leave it alone. Any input is appreciated...D+ doesn't seem too pricey, and if this works out I might just hang onto it after the festivities so I can watch Ncuti Gatwa's run. What say you?

I don't have Disney+, but i never heard anything negative from Disney+ users i know. I would go for the $9.99 Bundle. Thanks for that, Frank. Sorry it took me a few days to respond, but I wanted to share how this story played out...it's rather wibbly wobbly.
On Monday I made an account on D+ and started exploring. They offer far, far more than I'd ever have time to watch, and of course I was only interested in one thing.
Which I saw...nowhere. No mad Scotsman, no shouty ginger at his side, no blue box VWORPing around. Less than a week from the anniversary (which is actually tomorrow) and the release date of the first special episode (which is Saturday, more about that in a minute), D+ had zero promotional materials up on their site. I did a little googling to make sure this was still the plan, and it was. Curious, I contacted one of the agents.
I explained that I'm a Doctor Who fan who is interested in signing up for Disney Plus so I could celebrate along with my fellow Whovians on Saturday when "The Star Beast" was scheduled to drop. After a pause this enthusiastic young fellow regretfully informed me that DW would not be appearing on D+ until 2024. I said, "Are you sure? Multiple sites are reporting that it's supposed to start then."
The youngster assured me he had my back, and there was another pause. Then he told me that "something happened in the system" and that he was terribly sorry to give a Doctor Who fan such disappointing news. He then announced that he had my back again (there was a lot of this), and that he would give me a 30-day free trial "for my trouble." He was so nice, so eager, and so flipping determined to make it good that I gave him a five-star review in the survey that followed.
After checking out the content, I headed off to a Tennant-intensive FB group I'm a part of. I wasn't the only one wondering why Disney didn't seem to be advertising this. Another group member did some digging yesterday and finally, we got a definite answer...yes, the TARDIS will be landing in the House of Mouse Saturday afternoon:
...and I'll be able to watch! SQUEEEEEEEE!!!
So will anyone with D+, by the way. I think the time is 1:30 PM my time--it's supposed to be simulcast with the BBC broadcast, at 6:30 their time. Needless to say, I'm stoked!
