No one had a phone in Elementary school Sheesh! That's rough @wayoftheredpanda
I seem to recall one of these, but that probably doesn't count!

My point is that everyone over exaggerates technology addiction. I remember toys like that. It has occurred to me that a lot of people my age don’t know how to operate rotary phones, which is astounding, it’s self-explanatory.

Since you are most likely the youngest member here, it's interesting to see your point of view.
You probably can't imagine a time when every single person (almost) was not carrying around their own personal phone.
We used to just use phone booths and I recall when a phone call was only 10 cents (man, I am old!)

I know how pay phones work, and I remember before every kid had a phone. I was only 3 when smart phones came out, so I can’t really say about everybody, I do remember people having flip phones. Kids started having phones in middle school. I didn’t get a phone until last year (which I know sounds silly to you), but I was pretty late to get one compared to others.

Actually no this does not sound silly to me - my son was in high school and I think it was grade 9 or 10 when he told me he was the only kid in his class who did not have a phone. I guess I was technologically challenged back then. I did not even get a home computer until 2001!
