That's a beautiful piece of artwork, prufrock.
Is it an illustration for something?
Girl looks a bit like Alice, in that dress,
but I see Bagheera in that tree.
.....as well as a few other things.

My daughter is an artist, and the painting of the sleeping girl with the panther was commissioned. There is much symbolism here, I agree. I'm especially drawn to the owl, for some reason.

Yes, a lot of symbolism there. The image describes paradise as it will be after the Second Coming.

The two sleep soundly, as the ever wise observant owl raptor keeps diligent watch over them both.
On the third largest frond (closest to Alice's thigh) in the lower left corner, there seems to be something that might could be piercing through the leaf.
It looks like an appendage with a bluish colored claw.
It appears to be the same, or close to being the same, color as the reddish grass-like vegetation directly behind it.
The owl doesn't seem to notice, or to be concerned about it, if it does.
I wonder if it could be the clawed toe of some chameleon like lizard.
Those floating pretty gold lights look as if they could be gently, ethereally, creeping from the roots of the tree up towards the Alice.
They look like they could, possibly, be more than mere fire flies/lightening bugs.
And just why is that one single purply red leaf-like thing there, right between panther and owl. With none of it's own kind anywhere near. (That we can see. )
Simply making observations here, after looking into the picture once again.
Very interesting piece of artwork, can't help but to imagine what the story might be exactly.

I found a print of this Picasso sitting outside a house for junk pick up...  And I have in a coffee table book, one of Fritz Scholder's "Dream series" lithographs. I've had it a very long time but have never taken it out of the book.
