Amber and Whoopi have me losing hope here. (It’s Gunslinger all over again.)
But I do love Skarsgard.

Is this going to only be on CBS all access?
I believe so, buddy. I was hoping Netflix would have been able to air it in other territories similar to the CBS All-Access Star Trek series, but no such luck. I live in the Caribbean, so I'm gonna have to figure out how I get to see this.

One of the things I'm most excited about with this new adaptation is that King wrote a coda for the series, which is basically a definitive wrap-up of some characters' storylines that he didn't fully explore in the book. So, we're basically being treated to new material for one of his best and most-loved novels.

So Whoopi for the Stand and Efron for Firestarter? Maybe Kim Kardashian for the reboot of Carrie?

Just watched the first episode. It's a solid effort, but the show-runners' decision to adopt a "Lost" approach (introducing a few key characters and telling their stories via a shifting timeline) robs the narrative of the wonderful momentum of the novel. I do like what I've seen so far of the cast.
I'll offer no more details until I've finished watching the entire series. The Stand is tied with IT as my second favourite Stephen King novel (Salem's Lot being Numero Uno). I hope they do a good job with this show.
osnafrank maybe there should be a separate thread for discussion/reviews?

This is important info for people who are living in Canada and perhaps other country's, who want to watch the new stand. I called Shaw cable today and found out that the stand is not in CBS all access Canada. i guess they want to take the entire show and shop it around to the highest bidder in the Canadian market place. which is just dumb..... smilie_wut_086 I wanted to watch it. but i think i will just look for the dvd set when it comes out. or hopefully we will get a channel i already have so i can watch it then. god its so annoying for Canadianmedia customers sometimes. stupid.. oh well.

Ok so I just saw that in Canada I think Amazon prime got the rights to stream the stand in Canada but I may be wrong.
