My Mom knew him. Went to college with him in Mexico City,. She told me they were buds. He could have been my Dad depending on how good of buds they were.

My Dad claims that Johnny Mathis was at his senior prom--he dated an Italian girl from my Dad's neighborhood, which was a big deal in those days. That's as close as I got, as far as family stories & celebrities.

Great song. Right up there with...
The good old 1970’s ballads . I liked the way you could listen to the radio back then and hear a real mix. Stations weren’t as formatted as they are now, so you might hear David Soul and then something like Thin Lizzy/ Jailbreak right after that.😎

my local radio station used to play everything from country to hardcore rap (or at least what i knew as hardcore rap at the time) now its middle of the road soft rock
to keep things topical, I once won a contest by knowing a sound clip was from the movie Carrie

These are songs that I feel a connection to, or define my memory of that given year, so not every top song is represented. (Example: you will not find You Light up My Life anywhere in the 1977 folder) The song sequence is based upon when each song peaked on the Billboard charts. It's an ongoing labor of love. My pet project is a lot like the old style radio format you mentioned. You'll have Yvonne Ellman next to Starz next to Gladys Knight. It's glorious. Listening to a folder is like a literal chronological time trip back to that year.

If you ever get a chance to post a list of the songs you have in each folder, I would love to see that. I used to have a couple of cd's that a friend made me of 70's hits. A lot of the songs were either by one-hit-wonders, or artists that only had a few great songs, so I'd never buy their albums. I loved those cd's, but I lost them somewhere...probably left them in someone's car.😔

I was on a trip to the Grand Canyon with a friend a few years ago and coming back to Phoenix late at night we'd hear stuff from the early 60's like Hang on Sloopy and then Metallica-Enter Sandman right after it. It was great--you wanted to stay awake just to hear what they'd play next because it was so unpredictable.

Currently they're in hundreds of different folders and subfolders. I have a friend who does both DJing and karoke. He has everything on a computer and external hard drive, but said if hever has a fire in his house he'd lose both. I said I'll give him a hard drive and he can back them up again and it will be safe and kept 'off site' in case he needs them. Haven't talked to him in a few years and I have to make sure everything works every few days or so, ya know.

I haven't heard anything new Nor have I but I haven't been really keeping up with the entertainment sites lately. I never totally finished the book but I'm a vampire junkie who hasn't had a solid fix in awhile. The Underworld films aren't bad but 30 Days Of Night was really the last mainstream vamp flick I've seen that I liked. Maybe they can use one of the 50 covers of 'Cry Little Sister' for the film. That song from the Lost Boys is still considered to be one of the top vamp songs ever, even though many don't even know the name of the actual original singer. It didn't help when tons of rock bands started covering it, I think there's even a hip hop cover.
