One of the commentators and analyst for NCAA and NFL games on German television is Bjoern Werner, former player for Florida state and the Indiana colts.
He was one of the commentators of the Penn State game, and he has mentioned that in Pennsylvania, there are a lot of dead deer lying around. He sounded like ha has a trauma.
Is that true ? Around here it sure is true, and if he traveled to Penn State it's the same there. In the countryside and rural areas they're laying dead on the side of the roads everywhere right now. It's hunting season and they're skittish and moving around much more than usual and crossing the roads. I counted 2 dead whitetail deer on the side of the road this morning on my way into work. The state used to hire independent contractors to pick up dead dear and haul them off, but they stopped doing that for some reason years ago because they must have thought it was better to just piss money away on useless projects and just let the deer rot away on the sides of the road.
I deal with deer every week on my travels. And now that it gets dark early there are about 8 areas on my trip home that are key deer road crossing areas and I slow down and keep a watchful eye. Last year when I hit a deer and it went over my roof it lay on the side of the road till it decomposed. The same for the deer that was hit by a car earlier this year and was laying in my front yard. I drug it across the road to the farm field where it stayed until it rotted away. The only time police will do anything is if a deer is in the middle of the road and then they'll only drag it off the road and let it lay there.
Around here you don't ask if you've ever hit a deer, you ask when was the last time you hit deer. I've done it about 10 times.
When the German exchange student stayed with us the one spring, one morning I was taking the kids to school and pulled out from my driveway and a herd of about 12 deer were running along side the car about 6 feet away from us for about a tenth of a mile. She was shocked because I think she had cities and towns in her head about what Pennsylvania was all about, not wilderness.
I didn't realize the counties and state were just leaving them on the side of the road. It must smell horrible when that is going on.

But the turkey vultures and crows usually make short order of the flesh and meat. I was lucky with the one I drug across the road. Winds usually took the smell away from me, and at the house it didn't smell too bad until you got about 20 yards away from the house.

Is that true ? Was he talking about deer being hit by cars?
Well, not exactly. He just told that he has never seen so many dead deer, like in Pennsylvania.
He was like Haley Joel Osmont in the Sixth Sense: "I can see dead deer"

If you're bored you can simply close your eyes and rotate a cow in your mind.
It's free and no one can stop you.
