Christmas is coming Folks. I've got to order a turkey, we've got 19 people to table this year, I'll probably need to get an 17lbs or 18lbs bird.

Turkey and ham are the two essential meats for Christmas here Frank, every single Christmas day I've ever celebrated it's been turkey and ham with stuffing and assorted vegetables, usually sprouts, carrots, peas, mash and roast potatoes. Some years we'll do roast vegetables as well.

90% of Americans buy turkeys for holiday season. Can Germans buy sliced turkey for sandwiches? Turkey is popular here for subs and hoagies, like at Subway or Panera Bread.

Yap, you can get Turkey as cold cuts, like Turkey Salami. But you won`t find a turkey at the stores or even the butchery. Chicken, Goose and Ducks are very popular poultrymeat here. I don`t like Ducks, they are too greasy.

If cooked properly a duck does not need to be greasy. You have to take a fork and stab all over the bird before roasting, this will release the fat . Helps if on a rack too. My nana made one each Christmas. Too expensive in stores now.

During the Christmas season as a kid, my grandparents on my father’s side (who came from ‘the old country’) used to warn me of the Krampus (a sidekick of Saint Nick). He was a horned goat-demon who punished naughty children that have misbehaved. Christmas was a scary time for me as a kid... who always misbehaved. I’m keeping up the tradition with my grandkids. Merry Krampus, eveyone!
