5. Cabin Fever (2002) (FTV 3/5)
Bert, a college student vacationing with friends in the mountains, mistakenly shoots a local man with a skin infection while hunting in the woods.
Nice Horror Flick, pretty heavy on the gore, but with a subtle sense of humor.
It's good, gory fun.

2. Kwaidan (FTV)
Anthology of four traditional Japanese ghost folklore stories.
I put off watching this one for years because it’s a three hour movie and I’ve heard it’s a slow, quiet movie. Perhaps because of my low expectations, I was very pleasantly surprised that the critics were right—this is an essential classic horror film.
The film is a work of art with amazing sets and scenes that look like ancient Japanese paintings come to life. The sound design is deliberately sparse, with long silences punctuated by wood percussion and jarring strings. The effect is to give an otherworldly, dream-like vibe which is quite conducive to feelings of dread. So many horror films never even try to achieve this level of atmosphere.
This low-key, artful approach doesn’t preclude several scenes of visceral horror. These ghosts don’t mess around: fighting you with swords, ripping off your ears, drowning you, not to mention bearing grudges that last years.
Patient fans of old Japanese films will enjoy, film fans will at least appreciate.

4. The Mandela Effect- 2019-A man becomes obsessed with a phenomenon where facts and events have been collectively misremembered by thousands of people. Believing it to be the symptom of something larger, his search for answers brings him to the brink of insanity when a startling revelation forces him to make a difficult decision that, if he is right, could have consequences for the entire world.

6. “Hold Your Breath” 2024
I watched this last night over dinner, and I think I will rewatch it again soon, I enjoyed it very much.
Excellent cast and story, set in Oklahoma, during the Depression/Dust Bowl era.
Sarah Paulson gets to show how really good she can be. Too often (but not always) she is cast in the most irritating, awful characters that grate on your teeth, spine and nerves. 🙄
She’s just really good at acting those kind of parts. But I think she is just as good and better in other roles like this one.

6.) Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (FTV 2,5/5)
Not wanting to live in the shadows any longer, Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Owl and Tigger take their fight to the town of Ashdown, leaving a bloody trail of death and mayhem in their wake.
Well, it's much better than the first movie, but the bar was set very low, tbh. It's a massive improvement in script, make up , music, and execution.
This film is a good old-fashioned, fun, chaotic, slasher fest, with really gory deaths, and shouldn’t be reviewed as anything else.

3. The Sect (FTV)
Satanic cult on murder spree takes an interest in a single woman for a special role.
One might be tempted to write this one off as yet another Rosemary’s Baby rip-off, but it’s more along the lines of folklore horror given a giallo sensibility due to being produced by Dario Argento and directed by Cemetery Man director Michele Soavi. Starring Kelly Curtis (older sister of scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis), the movie packs enough weirdness and genuine scares to keep us interested despite occasionally feeling longish with its run time of two hours.
One scene in particular is not for the squeamish, especially if you don’t like birds. Enough said, if you’ve seen it, you know.

7. “PrEMoNItIOn” 1999
Nice cast here! Christopher Loyd, Blu Mankuma, Cynthia Preston (of ‘PIN’ fame), Adrian Paul, Rachel Hayward, A.J. Buckley ……okay, that’s enough listing. Ohmystarsandflamin’garters 😳
This is a rather rare and surprising treat for me, that I never knew existed. 😊 That is not until tubi’s algorithm spoke up in my ‘recommended’ line up, and declared “Hey! Check this out, babe. We’re thinkin’ you’re gonna liiiike it.” 😄
And I did! Not a film for everyone, but a pretty dang good one overall….even if the story and explanations don’t satisfy or sit well….with most people.
I decided to give it a try when I saw the year it was made and that it starred Christopher Lloyd.
i have been a loyal fan of his since I first saw him as freaky crazy-good loon, Tabor, in “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”.
Added attraction is that we get to see him in a more serious, dramatic leading role!
He is SO outstanding! 🥲
Seattle is the back drop for the moody dark atmosphere and the dank feel throughout the story. The air gets to be thick with the feeling of dread at times.
Christopher Loyd is Morley, a once respected journalist, who has chosen to walk away and go to work running a tabloid.
Nothing seems to rattle the ever watching Morely. He seems to have seen it all, and wants to see what people around him see and how they react.
Preston is Alison Caine, a young reporter who works for and with him.
Adrian Paul is Brady, who seems to ‘conveniently’ be in the right place at the right time. Or….maybe the wrong place and time.😳
I’ve not been a big fan of Paul’s in the past, but I really like what he did in this movie.
He managed to put out a subtle aura of odd (and nearly appealing) awkwardness, intermingled with just the right amount of creep to keep you guessing and morbidly curious.
A.J. Buckley does a magnificent job portraying Stanley, an inhabitant of a mental institution.
If you choose to give this movie a try sometime, don’t make the mistake of not paying enough attention to coffee shop owner and operator, John. Who is played by Blu Mankuma. (Another favorite! I wish we could have seen more of his VERY interesting character.)
All of these characters have secrets. In them and surrounding them.
There is an abundance of mystery and suspense, and a substantial heaping of thrill and horror in the little bit of gore we get to see.
(that’s enough out of me for tonight. 🥱 Bottom line : I got into this story and characters more and more as I watched, and really loved it….other people might not. 🙂 )
oh yeah! One more thing! If you’ve never seen of even heard of the 198& movie : “Pin”, you can check it out on YouTube on The Management’s channel : ‘Newcastle After Dark’. 😊 Those guys and their movies are awwwrrrrrsome! 😊

7) Wounds (FTV 1,5/5)
A bartender in New Orleans picks up a phone that was left behind at his bar and begins to receive disturbing messages, and finds his sanity slowly unravelling.
Yap, this flick gets a worse rating than Blood and Honey, and i want my time back.
I can’t believe people make these films, watch them back on completion and say “yap, im happy with that”.
The first 15 minutes are promising, the remaining hour and a half was complete garbage, and went nowhere. It just made no sense, everything is just out of place, and it left thousands of questions and absolutely no answers.
The ending....what ending ?

8. “The Bride” 1985
Sting, Clancy Brown, Jennifer Beals, David Rappaport, Timothy Spall
It has been so long since I’ve seen this one, it was almost like seeing it for the first time. 😱
I had forgotten how good this movie is. A very nice production!

Planet Terror is a 2007 American action comedy horror film written and directed by Robert Rodriguez.
Pure Adrenaline. A must see classic, if you love humor and gore. A silly Zmbie flick, that doesn't take itself too seriously.

1. Fear The Walking Dead
A bit of a cheat since it's a tv series but I have watched the last couple episodes of season 4 in October so I'm going to count it and I have a couple of comments about it.
I watched the first 4 seasons of this when it originally aired and did not like it as much then as I did this second time around. It came out when The Walking Dead was at it's peak and The Walking Dead was better so it was impossible to watch it then and not compare the two. This showed up on Netflix recently so I started watching it from the beginning and really enjoyed it this time. Season 3 is fantastic. Things start going downhill in season 4 when they did a time jump so they could put Morgan into the show. Unfortunately, they time jumped from the best story line they ever had. Anyway, an interesting thing I noticed this time is that the original group of characters had no tough guys to protect them like TWD. The Fear cast got tougher as the show went along. To start off, the Fear cast was mostly unlikable, a junkie, some horrible kids, a pacifist husband and a con man. It was an interesting decision to not have tough guys right from the start (like Rick, Shane and Daryl). This group really had to learn how to get tough or die.
The first 4 seasons are good. I would rank them
1. 3rd season 10/10
2. 2nd season 8/10
3. 1st season 7/10
4. 4th season 6/10
I didn't watch past season four originally and I'm not sure I'm going to this time either. I can see it deteriorating after the death of two main characters. I liked it much better this time around though and Coleman Domingo and Kim Dickens had great chemistry together.

I KNEW Madison wasn’t dead! You never saw her fall when the herd overtook that place. I figured she got away through the back somehow. She is the BEST character, and the one who seemed able to bring out Strand’s better side. Sometimes.

4. Longlegs (FTV)
FBI agent pursues a serial killer who leaves a series of clues that suggest the occult may be involved.
The movie doesn’t play out in any one unifying style, veering between weirdness, scariness, and Michael Mann-esque thriller. That’s not to say it’s not effective. The sound design in particular is more than capable of inducing chills, and while there are a few jump scares, the ones that are there are mostly earned. There’s an effective use of frame in flashback scenes as the aspect ratio shifts to a round-edged 1970’s Kodak photo print. Overall, the movie is very dark, so having a properly calibrated display is a must.
Nicholas Cage is nearly unrecognizable under prosthetics and pancake makeup, suggesting an aging glam version of Buffalo Bill, or perhaps Marjorie Taylor Greene on a bad hair day. Maika Monroe plays FBI agent Lee Harker with a stoic social awkwardness, seemingly more at home in her own head with her psychic gifts.
If you like the idea of the Silence of the Lambs, Zodiac, and Seven being done with with a bit of giallo flair, then you’ll enjoy Longlegs.

5. The First OMen - 2024-A woman starts to question her own faith when she uncovers a terrifying conspiracy to bring about the birth of evil incarnate in Rome.
6. The Boogeyman (2023) Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher is quickly becoming one to watch and a rising scream queen with films like this one and the upcoming titles Heretic and Companion. The Boogeyman is based on a short story by Stephen King and follows a family grieving the loss of their mother. Their father (Chris Messina) is a therapist who works from home. One day, a deeply disturbed patient of his arrives for an appointment and leaves behind an entity that feasts on the suffering of others.
7. Censor (2021) I will jump at any opportunity to promote Prano Bailey-Bond's 2021 movie about a British film screener with a reputation for being the strictest "censor" around. Set during the height of the 1980s video nasty era, we follow Enid (Niamh Algar) as she goes through the motions of viewing horror films and deciding what content needs to be cut. Then she views a strange low-budget horror with an actress who looks strikingly similar to her missing sister Alice and falls down a seriously twisted rabbit hole.
