The discussion for 3-6-24 will be chapters 1-3 of The Call Of The Wild by Jack London. We will do chapters 4 and 5 the following week and finish with chapters 6 & 7 the week after that.

A real page turner.
Fascinating, but also very brutal, especially for dog lovers.
An interesting and poetic look at a domesticated animal returning to its wild roots.
Looking forward to reading the next chapters.

Transformation--- a difficult read for myself. Comfy pet, to harsh life of a sled dog. Buck is strong and adapting. Survival is the key. Let us see where this adventure will take us.

I really like the way the story is told with the third person dog point of view. Some of the cruelty is difficult to read but a necessary part of the story. I like this passage in the second chapter as Buck realizes what he's up against.
There was imperative need to be constantly alert; for these dogs and men were not town dogs and men. They were savages, all of them, who knew no law but the law of club and fang.
