The discussion for Wed 1-31 will be the 4th story of The Yellow King trilogy , The Yellow Sign. I have enjoyed the 3 previous stories even though I don't quite understand where this is going. I'm not sure if we will get a clearer picture with this 4th story.

Found this to be an easier read than the first 3. Feeling some "Lovecraft" vibes Still a creepy short story, but felt more inclined with the characters. Still felt that horrifying feeling of the unknown. Must admit it gives one a very strange and weird feeling. The slug like man in the window sent shivers.

Agree with spidey. This was an easier read, and i liked this one the most.
Subtle Horror, an eerie atmosphere, and yes, the mysterious slug like man is creepy.
Really enjoyed the King in Yellow Storys. The horror in this isn’t something you can see or hear creeping up behind you it’s something elsewhere, elusive.

Did you catch the creepy organist from the last story? When Scott was speaking about being happy the church next door sold, he spoke of the priest that annoyed him and
"Then, too, there was a fiend in human shape, an organist, who reeled off some of the grand old hymns with an interpretation of his own,..."
The relationship between the painter and the model was a bit shocking for 1890's literature as it was implied that more than painting was going on.
There was an Adam & Eve element to the story. When The King In Yellow was found, it was described as being bound in serpent skin and it was like a temptation to read it. The woman read it first after Scott told her not to and then he read it.
