Yeah, we have feral cats all over the neighborhood and surrounding woods. They're like the Gangs of New York. They'll cut you. LOL I knew there was a reason I like ya!

That's amazing Doc, I'd love to have something like that going on here but we have neighbours with cats which patrol the back garden walls and stalk the birds, I have a squirt gun full of vinegar that I fire off at the cats whenever I see them on my wall. If we didn't live so far apart I would lend you my squirrel trap (well actually the bigger one would be big enough for a cat). We got a set of two - one large and a bonus smaller one.
Why are cats allowed to run at large? We have a bylaw here that says your cat has to be kept indoors or if outside must be on a leash.
We don't have any laws like that here neesy, dogs must be kept on a leash and certain types of dogs must be muzzled at all times if they are out but cats are pretty much given free reign.

This morning while drinking my coffee I saw my first yellow finch and across the road the pokeberry bush was shaking and thrashing. After putting on my glasses I saw four or five robins bobbing on the red limbs plucking berries.

Now that a good portion of the squirrel population has been relocated, I am seeing more birds at the bird feeder.
Caught another red squirrel this morning and took it to the Half Moon drive-in restaurant out by Lockport. If you ever saw the movie "A Dog's Purpose" that is where they are when the main character gets into a squabble with another guy because his inebriated father is there.
It's about 25 km from our place so he'll have a tough time finding his way back to West Kildonan! (the squirrel, that is, - not the drunk father)
We're up to 7 red squirrels, one gray squirrel, a feral cat and a big raccoon (the last two had to be released right away, without relocating them anywhere).

Well, the raccoons have been evicted from my shed. A junk crew came and hauled it off piece by piece after pounding the devil out of it with axes and sledge hammers; there are strips of pink insulation blown all over like cotton candy. I am in the process of cutting down the mimosas and remaining roots, and I'm picking up debris. The mockingbirds were feeding next to the mourning doves on the entire track of earth that until now had never seen the sun. It must've been prime real estate for bugs.

I took these a few years ago and posted them on the SKMB. These are sandhill cranes and the families stay together for a long time. They don;t seem to travel very far either. This was taken by my house and those birds were hanging around in the median and on the side of that road for weeks.
Hopefully the photos will come through. I added attachments but can't see them so we will see what happens when I hit post.

Here is a sandhill crane in my yard. These birds are mean if you invade their space.
