1. Intrigo, Dear Agnes==2019
What is a human life worth? How is it possible that a woman like Agnes could agree to kill another human being? Is it the money? Or are there other forces at play?

A horror-comedy about a boy who makes friends with a few zombies. Fairly amusing in places but the movie fell flat. 3/10

2. “Dr. Sleep” 2019
I have not read the book yet, but I think this must be one of the best of the SK screen adaptions.
Loved this movie! Great cast and FX all around.

1. Ghostwatch (FTV)
Investigative journalists spend Halloween night in Britain’s most haunted house, only to find themselves caught in an even bigger horror story.
Told with a completely straight face in news documentary style, Ghostwatch caused a bit of a stir when it was aired (once and only once) back in 1992 on BBC 1. Predating Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project, audiences were caught off guard and because of the live “call in” feature and the use of real television hosts, many in the audience were convinced that what they were seeing was real. There was so much controversy about what many felt was irresponsible reporting and an abuse of public trust, Ghostwatch was effectively banned from further broadcast and only recently became available for home viewing.
Today, much of the film feels dated and creaky, and it’s hard not to chuckle at the (presumably regional) name they’ve given the dark space under the staircase, which I won’t print here, but it rhymes with “gory hole”. Things fly a bit off the rails towards the end as the paranormal entity expands its reach beyond just the house, but Ghostwatch always keeps us guessing and entertained, and even occasionally a bit creeped out. What I like is that the movie never once winks at the audience, even when the host (ably played by BBC mainstay Michael Parkinson) is being cynical, he never loses his professional sheen.
Ghostwatch pioneered the found footage genre in regards to horror, and many of the most effective moments are still imitated to this day. I wasn’t a child in 1992, but if I had seen this as a child I would have been terrified.

2) Evil Dead Rise (FTV 4/5)
A reunion between two estranged sisters gets cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
Great movie, not groundbreaking, but it was a fresh, new take on Evil Dead, contained plenty of the tropes from the original movies and had lots of respectful nods to horror of the past.
Entertaining, creepy, brutal and sometimes gross, and yes, a chainsaw was involved.
The cast was spot on.

3.) Deliver us from Evil (FTV 4/5)
As a veteran member of a South Bronx precinct, NYPD Sgt. Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana) has seen more than his share of dark and horrifying events -- so many that they have begun to poison his soul
My first thought was, "Hm, another Exorcism Movie", but it didn't disappoint a bit, thoroughly enjoyed watching this demonic possession movie. That combination of wit, detective-crime/ supernatural was highly entertaining.
Great cast, cinematography and score.

4.) Terrifier 2 (FTV 1/5)
Resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County to terrorize a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.
I liked the first part, but this one was just a big pile of garbage. Part 1 didn't take itself too serious and it was the perfect length., this one was way too long.(2 H 18 min)
The "plot" is outlandish, the dialogue is uninspired to say the least, and the acting is subpar . The gore was so overdone,it appeared cartoonish.
Waste of time.

2. Wendell & Wild (FTV)
An orphaned girl seeks to bring her parents back to life with the help of a pair of misfit demons who dream of opening a theme park for the dead.
Stop motion-animated horror comedy feature from Henry Selick (the animator of Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline), and co-written by horror master Jordan Peele? I’m in. W&W is a strange film, seeming to play by its own set of twisted rules--know of many animated features that kill off the parents in the first 5 minutes, or feature a shovel murder?
At times this ambitious film can barely contain its large number of ideas, characters and a decidedly non-childish plot, and the tonal shifts between the human world and the demon world can be jarring. The protagonist can be abraisive, but we understand her bitterness—she feels she’s to blame for her parents’ death and seeks to fix things. Not shying away from demonic entities, W&W is pretty far from the relatively familiar territory of Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks, so it’s likely going to turn off those who just want some animated comfort food.
Boasting a funk-rock retro soundtrack that features Fishbone, The Specials, and Living Colour, Wendell & Wild dances to the beat of its own drum.

3. Dolls (FTV)
A dysfunctional family and a group of road-trippers get stranded at a creepy old mansion where the dolls come to life and dish out justice to the baddies.
Sometimes you just want a horror movie that does exactly what you think it’s going to do, and Dolls does not disappoint. Directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) in 1987, it would be tempting to write off Dolls as a straight-to-video cash grab that attempts to one-up Chucky in Child’s Play, but Dolls actually pre-dates that film and in fact saw a theatrical release. Of course the critics hated it, but this isn’t Citizen freakin’ Kane, it’s a movie about killer dolls.
What keeps Dolls from achieving greatness is a lack of involving characters, a cheesy intrusive music soundtrack, and a truly terrible child actor whose whiny nasal voice grates early and often. On the plus side, we have the killer dolls themselves, brought to life through various means including animatronics, master puppetry imported from Italy, and stop motion-animation. There’s also a fair amount of authentic 80’s-style gore, poked out eyeballs, and an unforgettable transformation scene.
Got 77 minutes and want to see a bunch of creepy dolls killing people? Look no further than Dolls.

3. Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight (1995)
High-level demons collect low-level demons as warriors in attempt to obtain a key containing the blood of Christ. The key is guarded by immortal warriors called Demon Knights.
Entertaining and a bit gory. Billy Zane is fantastic as The Collector. 7/10

5.) Predator (4,5/5)
Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a soldier of fortune, is hired by the U.S. government to secretly rescue a group of politicians trapped in Guatemala. After finding a string of dead bodies, the crew discovers they are being hunted by a brutal creature with superhuman strength and the ability to disappear into its surroundings.
Already a classic. Predator is a SCIFI action monster movie that delivers the ultimate thrill ride, it provides great stuff for action fans, and surprisingly intense scares.
I remember the first time i saw this movie, when i was 11 or 12 years old. The Scene when the Predator took off his helmet, and showed his face for the first time, scared the shiet out of me.

4. Society (FTV) A high school student with a seemingly perfect life suspects his parents belong to a dark sex cult.
Part Cronenbergian body horror, part Lynchian nightmare, part “Eyes Wide Shut”, and part Ferris Buehler’s Day off, Society probably made quite a few people scratch their heads when this was released back in 1989. There’s an uneasy tone that shifts from teen comedy to mystery to horror, often all at once. I feel like this movie was way ahead of its time and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. The film features jaw-dropping practical special effects from the guy who brought you the eyeball monster in Big Trouble in Little China and Nightmare on Elm Street 3, and the finale where the cult members have an orgiastic feeding frenzy they call the “shunt” will be burned into your retinas forever.
Main actor Billy Warlock (yes that’s his real name, Baywatch seasons 1-3) does a good job playing things straight, his paranoia growing steadily while remaining relatively sympathetic despite his flaws. Sure, there’s social commentary but you need not let that spoil things for you—this film is mostly out to make you laugh uncomfortably and gross you out occasionally. The film sags a bit in pace just past the halfway point, but you’re going to want to stick around for that finale. This is the kind of movie that you’ll get a kick out of showing to someone who’s never seen it, just to watch their reaction.

6.) Final Destination (3,5/5)
Alex saves his school friends from death when he gets a premonition that their plane will crash. Unfortunately, they all begin to die one after another in horrifying ways.
Can you really cheat death ? Final Destination is a solid horror thriller where the plotting is the real winner. The concept is unique, the killings are intense, whenever they take place.

5. Tombs of the Blind Dead (La Noche Del Terror Ciego) (FTV)
Spain’s answer to Night of the Living Dead has undead Knights Templar feasting on unsuspecting vacationers.
In 1972 zombie mania was just starting to spread in Europe. The Italians were still making westerns and hadn’t yet reached the zombie heights they would be the late 70’s and early 80’s, but Spanish low budget film director Amando de Ossorio knew when to cash in. The Tombs of the Blind dead was a hit, with the old standbys of sex and violence, all made as cheaply as possible, but with a dash of atmosphere and style. The movie spawned 3 additional “sequels” that could be standalone films.
The film leans heavily into atmosphere and mood, with very little dialogue in the first half in particular. At times the movie feels just plain slow, but the revenant knights are a highlight, a skeletal gang of grim reapers on horseback. These guys are mean and the bites are shown close-up, at least in the uncensored foreign version. The victims are aggravatingly passive, getting themselves easily cornered and seemingly unable to evade these very slow blind zombies. Stop screaming and giving away your location! By the way, the reason they are called the blind dead is because they were hung for their crimes and crows pecked out their eyes—nice, huh?
Patient fans of 70’s Euro-horror will be satisfied, casual zombie fans might be bored.
3 out of 5 stars.

4. Tales From The Crypt (1972) Peter Cushing
A very good anthology movie based on EC Comics. This is a very different look from the more modern Tales From The Crypt shows and movies. There are 5 good dark tales with a connecting theme. The connecting story is about a group of tourists touring some ancient catacombs when they make a wrong turn and come face to face with the crypt keeper. The crypt keeper singles out each tourist and tells a dark tale that they have kept hidden. The ending of the connecting story is very dark. 7/10
