I really liked this, touching,story.
It explores themes like good, evil , penance, family, sin and pride.

Not exactly a cheery tale.
It's a tragic story of life long guilt and shame and the guilt consuming the man's life. I do think the death at the end is an accident.

Seems like he unwittingly sacrificed his son and through this is redeemed.

Sorrowful tale, with guilt as the main basis. I felt that the ending was an accident. Perhaps not pre planned/ meant to happen, but perhaps it did bring a degree of redemption.
