A clever story that is sort of a detective type story or a mystery. The reader is pretty sure of what the box is (as opposed to the narrator) but at the end, is surprised at what is actually in the box.

I expected this one to be scarier, but it was a captivating read.
What's in the box, why is his wife so clumsy, and why does Wyatt get into a frenzy when confronted about the box ? And the swims back to the sinking ship ? Dang, what's in taht Box.
Liked the narration and the ending.
Btw: Wasn't Roanoke Island the place where an english settlement mysteriously disappeared ?

Poe does it again. Thought it was a detective style story, and then. So many questions within as the reader reads. Dimensions of the box led my mind's eye to picture one thing only. Twist ending. Enjoyable read.
