Morbid and hilarious.
Aging has been cured but population control is now the law. For everyone born, someone has to go. The Federal Bureau of Termination might be the best name for a government agency I've ever heard. And the the municipal gas chambers being called Ethical Suicide Studios is not far behind.
I think Kurt might be telling us for every problem we solve, we create another.
Also, the rigid order in this world of strict population control has eliminated individuality. Dying in this world seems to be a form of expression that the rest of life here lacks.

A good short story that makes the reader think: . Vonnegut puts this question to his readers and allows them to examine a human’s right to reproduce in a world that is already facing the crisis of overpopulation is death the only means to curb this rising problem or is there any viable way out?
Satire was found-Duncan described her job as making people comfortable while she killed them!
And even humor:When she comes to pose for her part in the mural, she announces her name Leora Duncan, whereby the painter remarks-- and you dunk people. Way about her head!
Enjoyable short story.
