The discussion for today will be The Striding Place by Gertrude Atherton
I just got back from Savannah so I may not chime in on this until tomorrow.

Good horror story. Excellent description of the woods and Strid. A look into the nature of the soul. Story builds well, but I felt the end was flat. Would have liked to know what happens.

I liked it too but felt the ending was too abrupt. The Strid is fascinating and frighting. The story has a good buildup, interesting characters (did I detect a slight homoerotic angle in this?) and an interesting setting but does fall flat at the end.

Also picked up on the slight homoerotic angle.

No discussion Tomorrow as I may be dealing with a tropical storm/hurricane.
For next Wednesday, the discussion will be The Empire Of The Ants by HG Wells

Stay dry and safe as Nicole does her thing. Unreal to have one this late in the season and that crazy snake-like path!

Stay dry and safe as Nicole does her thing. Unreal to have one this late in the season and that crazy snake-like path! In the last forecast, the track ticked North a little which should be better for me to stay on the South side of it if it doesn't move back South again. The weather person this morning said the tropical storm winds extend 380 miles from the center of the storm. With the current track, we will probably see 40-50 mph winds and a lot of rain. It's moving at a good pace now so as long as it doesn't slow down, it shouldn't hang around too long.
