Are you ready to play with us? It's that time of year again! Welcome back to the 2022 October Horror Movie Marathon!
Here's how it works:
Watch scary/horror movies in October...whatever YOU think is horror (or scary) is fine!
Talk about them here, or at least list the title.
At the end of the month, we tally up how many horror movies you watched
1-12 movies: Bangor Buddies
13-18 movies: Tet-Mates
19-30 movies: Horrorslingers
31 movies or more: Ultimate Kings of Horror!
Even if you only watch one or two scary movies, this is a great thread for horror movie enthusiasts to share their finds and talk some horror!

Woo hoo, Horror Movie Marathon.
1. Book of Bloods (FTV 3,5/5)
A journey into uncharted territory through three tales tangled in space and time through the lives of Jenna, Mary, and Simon.
Confusing but great movie.
It was morbid, dark, twisted, and left me feeling unsettled. The Story is synced wonderful.

The Criterion channel is running (30) 80's horror movies this month. Many on my list this time will come from the Criterion channel. First one:
1. The Vanishing (1988) The Netherlands version
A man’s girlfriend is abducted at a gas station and he has no idea what happened to her. Over the next 3 years, he searches for clues and puts up posters and goes on television to try to find answers. Then the abductor starts to contact him and torment him. The movie starts with the story of the disappearance, then flashes back and tells the story of the abductor, then goes forward three years to the confrontation between the two men. 8/10

1. The Black Phone (FTV)
A boy abducted by a masked kidnapper known as The Grabber must find a way to escape, with the help of mysterious voices coming from a disconnected black phone.
Based on the short story by Stephen King’s son Joe Hill, The Black Phone is a rough ride, not afraid to show children getting hurt, especially by other children, but occasionally adults. Set in the 1970’s, but with little nostalgia aside from the occasional soundtrack choice. The adults are bumbling, broken, or outright predatory, and the children live in a world ruled by fear and violence. This is far from a feel-good movie, but strong performances from both children and adults keep it watchable. The mask, and more specifically how it is used in the movie, stand out in a crowded field of masked killer movies.
This movie has its flaws—things are set up without resolution, characters commit infuriating logical errors, and one feels that much was left on the cutting room floor. Depth and mystery are lacking, although the suspense is undeniable, this is pretty much a “what you see is what you get” kind of film. I felt like the movie started better than it ended, and while I don’t look to horror movies for moral teachings, some of the apparent conclusions of this film are a bit questionable. Still, most genre fans will be suitably entertained by this dark tale.
3.5 out of 5 stars.Bob's October 2022 Horror Movie List *FTV denotes first-time viewings 1. The Black Phone 3.5/5 (FTV)

This movie freaked my wife out so much, to this day she is reluctant to leave my side at gas stations and rest stops.

2. Scare Package (FTV 3/5)
Chad Buckley is super crazy about horror movies, but also very lonely. He mostly spends his days in his small movie shop having wild discussions with his only returning customer, Sam.
It's a Horror comedy. The tone is fun and light-hearted, with the emphasis on gooey crunchy, splattery gore and some nice jokes.

2. "The Uncanny" 1977
Kitties! 😊
Great cast as you can see from the movie poster, but there are quite a few more that what are listed.
Not a Hammer or Amicus, but the Amicus-like "Rank".
Peter Cushing is a lifelong favorite, and was again superb in this film. But the writer he portrayed here was very different, from the confident, more dashing type of Dr. Frankenstein and the stony malevolent Grand Moff Tarkin, we love and mostly associate him with.
1 story containing 3 highly entertaning cat tales. Awesome movie time! c010
Donald Pleasance and Samantha Egger's characters even added a bit of dark comedy here and there.
And I got a bonus flash card with this one too, Commander osnafrank ....

3. Bela Kiss (FTV 2/5)
The spectre of a legendary serial killer hangs over the heads of five bank robbers who have taken refuge at a remote hotel.
Ah, now i know why it was so dumb, it's a German Movie. 🙄
Camera and effects are stunning for a Low Budget flick like Bela kiss. Actors and Dialogues are at best mediocre.
It's too long, nothing really happens for the first hour of this movie, and little happens for 30 minutes after that. The last 20 is awesomely bloody.
It was like watching a Tv Movie that's just too long to hold your attention.

Always start my marathon off with a favorite:
1. Hotel Transylvania-When monsters want to get away from it all, they go to Count Dracula's (Adam Sandler) Hotel Transylvania, a lavish resort where they can be themselves without humans around to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis. (scare factor -zero. Fun factor -10)
2.Village of the Damned -Remake of the 1960 classic about the takeover of a town by telepathic aliens posing as human children. Based on the novel "The Midwich Cuckoos" by John Wyndham

I want to see that "Village of the Damned" remake Lady spideyman ! 😊
3. Rob Zombie's "Halloween 2". I like Rob Zombie's weird, kinda quirky jerky white-trashy style and take on things. He's always got a awwwrrrrrsome cast and primo gory FX! 😊....
