That was good. An Invasion Of The Body Snatchers type story. I looked it up and The Hanging Stranger predates Body Snatchers by 2 years.
This fits right in with the 50s paranoia of social control. I think the story tells us how mundane ordinary humans are because the insect people can imitate them so easily.

Good story! I almost had the vibes of "the Mist" concerning the aliens. Definitely vibes of "the BOdy Snatchers". The fear factor was present , however, the indifference was stronger. Daily life went on.
