I really liked the first episode, the second was...okay. But, this Season gets better with every episode. We were robbed of two seasons of what the show could have been.
Even Jack Crusher wasn't a (total) pita in this episode. Beverly and Jean-Luc’s conversation in the sick bay was awesome, gave me TNG vibes.
Changelings are back ? f**k Yeah !
This is what Picard should’ve been from the start. So good. AND ... STD is ending. What a week. Yap, good news, indeed.

I like that the first episode of this new season refers to the ST:TNG episode about Rachel Garrett! Did you know, Frank, that that episode was actually written by a fan? He submitted it to the producers, and they liked it so much that they made it into an actual episode. I believe that that happened on the X-Files as well.
I do like this new season ... but I wish people were more respectful to Jean-Luc. There still seems to be a tendency in this show to take shots at Jean-Luc. I'm not the biggest Next Gen fan, I'm more original series, but I seem to have a lot more respect for Jean-Luc than a lot of the guys that seem to have been on the Enterprise with Jean-Luc!

Rikers behavior toward Picard is indeed sometimes disrespectful, especially in the last episode. He had some of these out-of-character moments in this season, but with the return of the changelings.....who knows.

I don't like how Riker suddenly has a son that we've never known about. I could be wrong and Riker had a son in Next Gen, I don't know too much about Next Gen, but suddenly adding to the mythos that Riker has a son is very weird.

Riker had a "Son" in TNG, Jean-Luc Riker, but he was just a holographic simulation created by an alien to keep Riker in 'father'/'son'-type scenarios to seek interaction with other real beings.

Ah, interesting, I had no idea. Jean-Luc Riker is a terrible name.

I realised something, Frank, Jonathan Frakes is a really excellent director. He directed First Contact, which I would put up against any of the best works of a lot of major directors, its that good. I wonder why he's never had a chance to direct a big budget, non-Star Trek film, he seems to just do tv shows (including some episodes of the horrible STD). That last episode of Picard was actually directed by Jonathan Frakes.
Also, do you like Star Trek: Nemesis?

I remember liking Nemesis when it came out. there are some enjoyable things that I absolutely liked about this flick, like Tom Hardy as Shinzon and the visuals.

I remember liking Nemesis when it came out. there are some enjoyable things that I absolutely liked about this flick, like Tom Hardy as Shinzon and the visuals. Oh, yeah, Tom Hardy as Picard's clone is excellent. And the final battle at the end is brilliant. There was an interesting element in Nemesis I wish they had taken further: do you remember Picard's clone had some kind of psychic connection to Deanna Troi; it would have been really interesting had Picard's clone been able to turn her evil or something. But I think that plot bit was probably just added to give Deanna and Riker some screen time, they're not really prominent in Nemesis. In fact, most of the Next Gen crew aren't than prominent in Nemesis, its much more of a Picard character study. A lot of Trek fans really dislike it, but I'm glad that we like it.
Yeah, I think it might be the Star Trek curse. A lot of people say in response to the Star Trek curse, 'well, Shatner and Stewart went on to do stuff,' but yeah ... they were famous before they got into Star Trek, Shatner was in multiple successful tv shows.
Even an up and comer like Nicholas Meyer couldn't really get a big budget blockbuster after his Star Trek phase, despite the massive success of them (and he's immensely talented). A really horrible thing is that STD might be Meyer's last Star Trek involvement ... Dear Lord ... I hope not, though.

Amazing that guys like Meyer and Frakes don't get a lot of chances, but Alex Kurtzman gets project after project ...

osnafrank'No Win Scenario'
Damn! What an awesome episode! The scene at the end with Jean-Luc and his son was brilliant. His son, with Jean-Luc not knowing its his son, asks, 'did you ever have a family back home?'
And Jean-Luc replies, 'young man, Starfleet is the sole family I'll ever need.'
Awesome storytelling!

That might have actually occurred in some kind of alternate media from the Next Gen crew. Apparently this show has been pulling a lot in terms of references from the books and other things. Really cool!
