Horror Express is on now at www.hillcountrynetwork.net/hillcountrynetwork . I think it encores at ten as well. In any event you can catch how goofy I am at the end signoff. Gah. You have to click HOME at the top then click the square with the play arrow.

7.) The Witch (2015). Not sure what to say about this one. Personally, I felt guilty for watching it, it felt a bit blasphemous to me. Was unsure about the accents. The actor who played the father (Ralph Ineson) has such a deep voice that it was almost distracting.
Anya Taylor-Joy did a good job with her role. I felt the ending was idiotic. IMDb scored it 6.8/10! I probably wouldn't have scored it higher than a 5.3/10. Obviously it wasn't my kind of movie - to each their own. Was this the one King praised? The one where the W looks like VV? The one with the Satan Goat?

I've always maintained that SK is far too generous in his book/movie/TV reviews!

10.) Malevolent (2018). I thought this was a somewhat intriguing story. And it was one the first movies I've watched this October that didn't have "animal stuff." It was supposedly set in England in 1986, so it was interesting to see what they made that look like (as opposed to how the 80s are represented in movies set in the U.S.).
Looked this one up on IMDb. They really raked this one over the coals. 4.9/10. I would've scored it at least a 5.6/10.

11.) The Babadook (2014). Re-watch. A bizarre and spooky movie, even though I remembered most of it since I saw it for the first time either last year or the year before. The boy who plays Samuel (Noah Wiseman) is incredible.

12.) The Shining (1980). People have such strong views (on either side) about this movie. So, not to stir up any conflict, all I'm going to say is this...I've seen this film enough times now that the scariest thing about it to me is Jack Nicholson's eyebrows.

2. The First Purge (2018) I'm horribly (he-he) behind this year. First there was this conference and then i was decked by a fever for many days. And i mean decked..... didn't even have the energy to eat. This movie was decent, perhaps more in the action cathegory than the horror one but the premise is a horrific one (in the US a new politic party takes power and institutes Purge day when its legal to kill, murder, rape and plunder. This to let loose our rage so we are calmer the rest of the year but also to control the growing overpopulation by killing them off legally) so i'm going to count it.

13.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
It's just another night at the morgue for a father (Brian Cox) and son (Emile Hirsch) team of coroners, until an unidentified, highly unusual corpse comes in. Discovered buried in the basement of the home of a brutally murdered family, the young Jane Doe-eerily well preserved and with no visible signs of trauma-is shrouded in mystery. As they work into the night to piece together the cause of her death, the two men begin to uncover the disturbing secrets of her life. Soon, a series of terrifying events make it clear: this Jane Doe may not be dead

Hope you're feeling better @kurben !
(I don't like the number that comes after 12 and before 14, so I'm going to post 14-1 and 14. )
14-1.) Carrie (2013). Re-watch. I don't hate this reboot, but there's nothing like the original! Sissy Spacek will always be Carrie to me.

14.) Children of the Corn (1984). Re-watch. This is such a slow movie, but Isaac and Malachai still freak me out. And the music is creepy as H*LL!
(I always joke around about how many sequels there are to this movie and say stuff like Children of the Corn 35...Looked it up and there are actually NINE of them!! That's crazy. Maybe some October I'll try to watch them all. They're all probably piled up somewhere in the $5 DVD bin at Walmart. (rofl) )

I don’t get how you can make that many corny sequels out of a thirty page story.

Out of morbid curiosity I looked all of them up on IMDb. Out of the 10 movies, the original rated the highest at 5.6/10. None of the others rated higher than 4.3 - the lowest was 3.5 (Children of the Corn: Revelation). Five of them were straight to video and one was a TV movie. Sheesh.

#4. ELVIRA! She has such enormous talents. Expect plenty titillation in this one. A really perky performance. So many jokes it's hard to keep abreast of them. Favorite scene: when she fell accidentally spelling out something naughty on the marquee. Favorite line: "I was just an innocent onlicker". I love Elvira. I wish she had made more of these.

@kurben Hey! Good to see you - I'm sorry to hear you were ailing with a fever and glad you are better!! morgan - I loved that very first Children of the Corn - I haven't seen any of the others. I'd give it a 7 at least. You are funny with your aversion to 13. I'm a one trick pony with this - I'm sure everyone on the SKMB has heard it, but did you know? {Personal Trivia} I turned 13 on Friday, Aug 13th at 3:13 PM. It's true. 13 is my lucky number. And my youngest was born on Aug 19th at 7:12 am (19/19!!!)

The Ritual
A group of college friends reunite for a trip to the forest, but encounter a menacing presence in the woods that's stalking them.
It's a " Guys hunted by a Thing in the Woods" Film.
Well, not a totally waste of Time, the Ending was nice (when this Thing appears)
Inevitably, it reminds me of TGHLTG, when the Guys enter the Woods

Here's what I got so far
1. Marrowbone aka The Secret Of Marrowbone (2017) George Mackay
A family moves into an abandoned farm house trying to run away from the father. As the movie progresses, we get little pieces of the back story as the tension ratchets up. A very slow start but good finish. 6/10
2. Hereditary (2018)
Anxious and foreboding right from the start and it never lets up. A modern classic. 10/10
3. Little Evil (2017)
An amusing spoof on The Omen movies. 6/10
4. Grabbers (2012)
Alien creatures invade Ireland and the residents discover that staying drunk is the only way to survive (the aliens don’t like alcohol). A good horror/comedy. 6/10
5. The Fly (1986) Jeff Golblum Geena Davis
Fantastic remake of a classic. The emotional change in Seth is as horrific as the physical change. 8/10
6. Dead Ringers (1988) Jeremy Irons (directed by David Cronenberg)
Identical twins (both played by Jeremy Irons) share everything and take advantage that no one can tell them apart. A take on the Jekyll and Hyde story except in this case, Jekyll and Hyde are two people that no one can tell apart. 8/10
7. Martin (1978) directed by George Romero
A young guy thinks that he is a vampire and wants to stop his vampire ways. The movie is a very low budget phycological/horror thriller and character study with some social commentary and dark humor. In other words, it’s a great George Romero movie. It’s amazing how good a movie George could make with no budget. 10/10
8. Simon Kills (2012) Brady Corbet
Very slow moving but disturbing & fascinating. This was in the horror movie section of Hulu but I wouldn’t really call it a horror movie other than it’s a realistic portrait of a sociopath. Warning – There are a lot of explicit sexual situations in this movie, so don’t watch it with your mother. 7/10
9. The Burbs (1989) Tom Hanks Carrie Fisher
Tom Hanks in his comedy days. It’s still pretty funny. 6/10
