Similar maybe, but not the same type of creature as
Big Foot, the Grassman or the Skunk Ape of Florida swamps and places near there.
I dunno I may be wrong about that,

I am particularly interested in Native North American Indian legends,
but especially The Mothman type phenomena as well,
whether it has roots in Indigenous lore or not.🙂
I think there MAY be something similar to the Grassman in Japanese(?) lore.
It's awfully interesting how there are similar or same legends/mythical creatures all over the world.
Like dragons for example.
( I think it may be one of those things that go hand and hand with the early migrations and populating of the Earth.
Before and after Pangea broke apart into different continents.)
As far as other things relating to this thread...
I have a few experiences with things that go bump in the night.
Like I said, I'll bring those eventually.

Yes, the Mothman is considered to be part of Chief Cornstalk's curse. People have different idea son it, some say the Mothman causes trouble, others say he warns against it. it was seen in various parts of WV usually along the Ohio River, so it might also have soemthing to do with the mounds.
Those mounds are creepy at night.

Okay, I got one strange/creepy occurrence for you, Dizzy Darlin'. 🙂
This is one of the very latest instances I can think of, right now.
Remembering back, I think it was October of 2012.
My sun was still in school, and this particular night I was home alone watching tv.
It must have been a Friday or a Saturday,
because he had gone out with some good neighbor friends and their kids to a family party,
a birthday party I think it was, or might could have been a Quince for one of their girl cousins.
(There's been many he's gone to over the years,
hard to remember exactly what they were up to that night.)
I was waiting up for him to get home,
it must have been about 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.
I was sitting on the sofa in our living room,
the tv on, and I had the indoor lights all out.
My window shades were open and I had the porch light on.
From where I was sitting (right beside the window),
I could see the WHOLE front porch clearly.
And I could also clearly see if anyone was at or around my front door,
it's just a couple of feet away from the sofa.
This part I do remember perfectly...
there was NO ONE out or around the street that night,
and the weather was warm, clear and breezeless.
It was a pretty calm and still night in every way.
I had been in and out of the house several times that night.
So...I'm watching tv,
some movie or something,
and I've got the volume down fairly low,
so I can hear approaching cars,
and car doors opening/closing.
And one of my cats
(one of my old cats, that's passed on)
was sitting on the ottoman beside me
in front of the sofa.
Suddenly the cat sits up straighter,
ears pr!ck up, and eyes widen
and she stretches her neck up
to look out the front window.
I always notice it when any of them do that,
so I look out on the porch and listen for a car or something
and there's nothing out of the ordinary going on.
And I'm thinkin' what's with you kitty?
A second later my front door knob rattles,
like someone is trying to open it.
Of course I immediately looks out
the window again and there is NO BODY there.
The door was not pushed,
like someone was attempting to enter,
and it was not locked either.
The knob was just being turned back and forth all on it's own.
That went on probably for only a second or two,
but you can imagine how something like that
could seem/feel like it was much longer.
I did not get up to open the door,
because I could see if anyone was there out the window.
If I got up, then my view would have been blocked by the wall.
I never took my eyes off the front porch,
right in front of the front door,
and even leaned up and over the arm of the sofa,
so I could see more of the welcome mat.
If someone had been there turning that knob
I would be able to see them standing there.
NO BODY was there.
And I looked at the trees around the yard and across the street,
they were all still,
no wind or breeze moving branches or even leaves,
let alone rattle an old front door or it's handle that way.
The handle stopped moving just as it started.
It was quite a disconcerting event,
but I really wasn't scared.
Just said a few of my prayers and thought,
'go on about your business
whatever the hell you are'.
That was it.
It stopped.
Me and the cat went on watching tv.
Eventually I heard the car drive up,
car doors open and close.
I got up then to see my little boy coming home to me. 🙂
He came in and told me about his good time,
and we closed everything up for the night
and went on to bed.
That's one of those 'You can believe it or not stories'.
I really don't care if anyone believes it or not.
I know what happened.
And I know that nothing,
no one with any physical substance did that.
I've seen very strange and somewhat scary stuff too, Diz.
That's all I got for tonight though.

it reminded me of something similar that was I was going to write about here.
Sometimes I save up answering posts when I have a lengthy answer.
Lol, just look at how long it took me to write out one simpler account.

No. I'm really hard to scare, Diz.
Not trying to brag or be all tough or anything,
it's just the way I am.
I simply don't freak out immediately.
I always thought there could be something wrong with me when I was a kid,
because I was like that.
I thought that I might be really useless
in an emergency because of that thing about me.
But over the years I just figured out,
I'm pretty cool headed.
And I do pretty good in emergencies
when other people are freaking out.
Thank God.
I don't know how else to explain it, Sis.
I'm feeling much better this evening,
but still not quite 100% yet.
I am having a good time posting
and talking with you though.

Another Paranormal Situation I Had Was After My Dad Went To Heaven I Was Very Sad An Once I Was Sleeping My Dad Came To Me In My Dreams An Say He Ok An I Will See Him Again Some Day An I Say Are You In Heaven An He Just Nodds An I Ask Him What Is It Like There An He Say He Isnt Allowed To Tell Me But I Will See It Some Day Too An He Say Alotta My Relatives With Him.
Then WhenI Woke Up I Had A Super Strong Feeling That Somebody Was In The Room With Me An Laying Right Next To Me An I Have A Feeling It Was My Dads Spirit. BC I Never Felt That So Strong Before. c029 But When I Look There Was Nobody There. I Think He Wanted Too See His Grand Kids An Plus He My Guardian Angel Too I Bet. |
