For any of the board members?
I want to know if anyone has had a very serious health issue, and gotten over it.

Hi MaryPeg! Does Crazy count? I survived crazy!! Almost 4 years now.
I have seen some miraculous things. A friend of mine was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer 3 years ago. The doctors gave her very little hope, but she's living strong right now. I think she's 18 months past her last treatment and she's doing great.
My niece, now 10, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 3. The doctors did give her good odds - she was lucky - it can grow two ways - one very large tumor or it can grow like ivy, all entwined in your spine. She had the very large 1 tumor kind on her adrenal gland. She was diagnosed on a Wednesday (May 11th) and St. Jude had her tumor out by Friday (May 13th, 2011). St. Jude is hands down the best place to be if your child has cancer. We're very blessed and grateful. 7 years past it.
Take very good care of yourself!

As some of you know, I had cancer a few years ago. Had it taken out, and all was clear after that.
Holly, I think we all survive 'crazy' once in awhile!!
But, this one, I am not going to survive.

As some of you know, I had cancer a few years ago. Had it taken out, and all was clear after that. Holly, I think we all survive 'crazy' once in awhile!! But, this one, I am not going to survive. I had shingles in 2013 but that isn't really a very bad disease - I got over it eventually - it was in my left hip but I still have some issues with that side of my body i.e. it's harder to lift up my leg to put a shoe on my left foot.
Andy survived squamous cell carcinoma - he had it under his tongue on the left side. They removed half of his tongue and had to reconstruct it with a flap from his thigh. This was in 2007 and he is still here - Cancer Care Manitoba says he is cancer free still.
He also had radiation therapy in his neck because they found more than one positive lymph node.
I don't know a lot about renal disease or kidney failure but I wish you a pain free decline. You are quite brave to go ahead with your plan of dying naturally without going through dialysis. Saying a prayer for you pegasus216

I am feeling pretty good. Back hurt yesterday, but Karen put a patch on it, and it always helps.
I am just a tough ol' biddy, I guess!!

I have a question - what time do people usually go to bed (for Board members here)?
Also how much sleep do you need on average?

It depends on how tired I am. Sometimes, I'm up until midnight or after, and I'm always up by 6:30.

I’m a night owl, my bedtime can go to the am’s unless I’m really tired, though i took a 5 hour nap yesterday.

It varies, but I prefer to be in bed by 09:30. Sometimes I really enjoy staying up late, sometimes extremely late, but I like being in bed early. I need A LOT of sleep...

When I was younger I HAD to get eight hours or I wasn't feeling refreshed. Now that I am older I seem to get around six hours, sometimes seven and that seems to be enough.

older age has changed my sleep pattern. When working it was usually bed by 11P/ up at 4 as I opened the Center.
Now, again usually 11- and up 6. Some nights insomnia occurs and I'll wake at 1ish and stay awake for several hours.

What was an awkward situation your family has been in?
At my sixth birthday party one kid fell off the top of my playground/swing set thing that he had climbed on top of and tried to block his fall with his arms like a five year old would naturally conclude to do, broke both his arms, it’s suprising how understanding his mom was.

Midnight, on average. It isn't unusual for me to stay up as late as one or two when reading, though.

What time do I go to bed? Early!! I like to be in bed by 9pm, but if I'm reading an engaging book, I take it with me and anything goes - I might be up until 2am finishing it; usually I just watch a show for an hour and go to sleep by 10pm. Sometimes I don't make it to 10pm and fall asleep as soon as I get in bed. I have to get up no later than 5:30am to get the kids and Ogre out the door. I like at least 7 hours of sleep, but prefer 8. Anything goes on the weekends though.
