Thanks wolf. Almost all roads are closed around here right now because of flooding. From the city about 5 miles to the west of me right now... Bethlehem, USA? Once again, the US demonstrates how imaginative they are about names.

Thanks Frank and Wolf. Trying to get home is sure gonna be a ton of fun... NOT! I may need a bigger boat. What makes me crazy in that situation is that there is usually one high lane that you can drive in but there are the idiots that drive through the deep water and then when their car is about to die, they manage to get to the high place that they should have been driving on in the first place and their car dies in the high lane and they plug up the traffic.
How long does that kind of water hang around there?
The nice thing where I am is when we get something like that as soon as it stops raining most of the water goes away (one of the nice things about living where there are no hills and a lot of sand).

If you're there, you need to go to the Museum of Ancient Civilizations. (only joking - there isn't a museum within 300 miles of this place )

Pretty bad around here. Took me forever to get home with so many roads clised. Energency vehicles have been nonstop. Came home to the entire basement flooded 4 inches. Power was out for 4 hours so the sump pump wasn't working. First time the basenent flooded since i got the place 20 years ago. So much stuff in the basement is destroyed. Got to get a dumpster and maybe looking at a weeks worth of work. Oh, well. Things have been kinda boring here lately, anyway.

So many cars abandoned and submerged in deep water on the roads. One car just as you described it. Went through the water then the car died after they got through it closing down my exit ramp. I got reports that a small part of the mountian near me collapsed and the rockslide closed off the highway through the gap in the mountain. A neighbors house up the road must have had electricity problems with all the water and caught on fire. Fun times.

The only one I'll try to save is a 1800's early US printing of Les Miserables.

I've been talking to two old friends in NJ who have no electricity and don't expect the power to be back on until Friday at the soonest. Surprisingly the old landlines still work. I hope today is better and your family is safe. That's all that really matters.

"Science is nothing but perception" "Wisdom alone is the science of other sciences"
Quotes by Plato. I only know his famous quotes, never read one of his books.
Very sorry to hear that you have to dump them.
