I've REALLY liked some of the movies in this series.
The very first one is best, I think. I enjoy Michael Sheen's work. He IS very versatile. I don't think I have been disappointed by him even once. He was awfully good as Lucien. And honestly, quite sexy as this character. (Check him out in the FOX tv series "Prodigal Son" you'll see a "WD" alumnus in there.😉)
Bill Nighy is another great actor too, really good casting all around. Storyline is pretty good. I've noticed that MANY video game stories are. I think I'm remembering correctly that these movies are based on vid games?
Nice bring Sis. 🙂

The timeline in the Underworld series is all over the place. Underworld 1, 2, 4, and 5 take place in the 21st century, with a few flashbacks, in the second film it flashes back to 1202 when Viktor and the vamps finally capture the first werewolf, who can't shift into a human, but Marcus, the fist vampire who sired Viktor, William is his brother so he is troubled by William being imprisoned. Underworld: Rise Of the Lycans, the third film, it takes place in the 15th century and leads to the all out war between shape shifting werewolves and vampires. I actually think the story is slightly underrated, the acting isn't the best but the power struggle, the politics, and the history and present of the clans, and the lycan clans, there's depth to be found there. I don't watch Rise Of The Lycans much because I'm a Beckinsale guy, so its not as fun to watch since she's not in it, well she's in the last 2 minutes but it's just a scene shot from the first film. Longest running vampire film franchise that I'm familiar with, and they may be able to squeeze one more film out of the whole thing.

Rhona Mitra was a good Sonja, and just enough like Beckinsale, you could see how Victor might have seen her (Beckinsale's character that is). I think so, at least.

I Love How Ruthless Viktor is... The funny thing, Kraven, despite not having much of a role in most of the films, is kind of the reason things went south in most of the films. Viktor wasn't that bad, he kept the order and everything was fine, it was Sonja who betrayed her father and broke a rule which meant the council would demand her death, he had follow the rules, he was an elder but one of many, so they'd have stripped him of his power and put her down regardless. Vampire politics, they make US politics look tame by comparison but its the same politics that are in that Vampire the Masquerade pen and paper game, and the video games, they also have elders and covens, and lots and lots of rules, and breaking the severe ones will lead to death in that franchise as well. I think Underworld borrowed a lot from Vampire: the Masquerade actually, and a little from Blade. Now I always say Predator Vs. Aliens was an iffy crossover but Selene and Blade in a crossover, that could be interesting, but it would never happen since Blade now belongs to Disney, so if anything Blade related comes out in the future, it'll be PG-13 at the highest, which is a shame. New Line did a damn good job on the first two films, a solid R rating but they were dark and intense and Snipes was great, the third one wasn't bad either but Reynolds kind of stole some of Snipes thunder.

Yea I Totally Agree With You Deviancy He was Still Sadden By Killing Sonja But He Didn't Really Have Alotta Much Choices though. Same Reason He Wanted Michael Dead it was Against The Rules to Have Hybrids Running Around.
I Think Those Covens an Rules An Everyting Like that was Viktors an Amelias Idea. Markus The First Vampire Didn't Care About that Stuff Hence Why He Destoryed it After He Woke Up. He Only Wants To Rule Everyting With His Brother William The First Lycan ever too.It Would Flood The World With Monster Lycans but Markus Didn't Care because His He Was The Only One William Show Any Kindaa Restraint at All around.

The elder thing, I can't remember what film or comic started it but it works the best in Masquerade but Underworld handles it well, same rules for the most part. As for who created the covens, I think Markus' dad may have had a role in it, he was immortal and kept tabs on the whole thing, and may have had more control than he let on since he was the father of the first vampire. The film could have used some more color, it was a little too bleak, the locations they shot at it were just bleh. But other than that, I enjoyed all five films. As for Michael, its weird, a lot of people where like, "get rid of Speedman, he's a bad actor", so they got rid of him, and then people were like, "bring back Speedman". Me personally, I'm fine without him, I think Selene is better off on her own...

I agree with you on Victor. He saw it all coming. And no matter how much he loved Sonja or Selene, he had survival of all of his in mind first. ....he had to. It was his responsibility to do so. But that's just the way I see it.
(Kraven was a total waste of vampire blood and screen time, even though his irritating part in the events was essential for the story move on.)
I'll watch the movies again, one of these days when I'm in the mood for it.

Lol wolf I Just Mean Yea IK it's 1212 A.D but idk How Long Ago that is TBH. I Know You Just Kidding Though Sis. ILY! Its a very long time ago, let me put it this way, Selene around 5 when William was caught and imprisoned, so she'd have been in her early 800's in the first film. Looked pretty good for a woman in her 800's, right? It actually goes back to the 5th century, that's when Alexander gets the virus that kills all of his people but mutates within him and causes him to become immortal and strong, and when he had sons, that mutated virus evolved and gave his sons immortality but made them different, but the evolution continued which is why werewolves finally were able to shift back to human while vampires couldn't shift at all unlike Markus. In short, they're not supernatural in Underworld, they're product of a mutation due to a virus that mutated Alexander.

How Long ago was the 5th Century is that even Farther Back? Yes, the 5th century started in 401 AD, it doesn't say when Alexander had Markus and William however. The century thing is always a hundred years earlier than its number. So if someone says the 21st century, they mean right now, not 2101, and if they say the 5th century, they mean 401 AD, and if they say the 16th century, that would be 1501 AD, the centuries roll over once the 1 is at the end, so the 22nd century will be 2101. Underworld doesn't do the greatest job with really informing the viewers of how the timeline works, they just bounce around. wolf maybe its a good idea to edit the subject and take the space out of Underworld, may confuse some who think we're talking about a new film or something. Oh, and no offense to Dizzy, we all make typos.

Ohhh Deviancy Thank You For The Info/Help. How Many Years Ago was 401 A.D? 1620 years ago, but the first film took place in the early 2000's and not 2021, so the first film takes place around 1600 years after Alexander was mutated into an immortal. wolf I borrowed my dads Ipad, was fine for basic internet usage but forum usage, its a different beast than social media where most just type one liners.
