Me an my Husband were Talking about Stephen King Books an Movies Last Night an he Point it out to me that When ever somebody Does a Movie of His Stories they always Change a lot of Tings from how it was in the Book or Leave Other Parts Out or Add Some stuff that was not even in the Original Story. My Man says it Annoys him that they do that. I Never Notice before but now I Realize they do that. I was just Wondering why they always Change stuff in his Stories when they Turn it into a Movie I thought it was against the Law.

Artistic liberties are usually a nessecary when adapting something into a different format, and sometimes writers/directors want to tell their own spin on the original story. Not saying the changes are always good, but doesn't mean the changes are always bad. Sometimes movie adaptations are better than the source material. Shawshank Redemption namely. I like the original short story, sure, but the movie's spin on the concept does it was more justice than the short story did, imo. Iirc King said he likes the movie better than his original story, or maybe that was The Mist, both are directed by Frank Darabont.

Not to mention Stephen King still makes loads of money off it regardless if the movie is good or not.

All that has been going on for so many years with so many books.
I think a lot of the time it's about budget, sometimes they have to really carve a book down to fit it into one film.
Then they also have to look at what the general movie going populace will want to see. That leads to the changes and additions.
In "Starship Troopers" the movie, "Dizzy" one of the main characters was a girl, but in the book, Dizzy was a guy.
I just try to not let any of it bother me.
I read Frank Herbert's "Dune" ....and then when I saw the movie, I was rather disappointed. but maybe if I had seen the movie before I read the book I might have liked it more.
One thing I look forward to is when I do see a movie first, like with SK novels ( or say a John Irving novel), I know when I read the written word it is going to be so much MORE and so much better.
I have not read these John Irving books yet, but I want to: "The New Hampshire Hotel" "The Cider House Rules" "The World According to Garp" All really great films. I imagine the novels are going to be astounding.
I'm hoping there will be a remake of 'Bag of Bones' one day, I saw that one after I read the book. It was good, but nothing compared to the story I read.🙂

As much as I like Bill Skarsgård, I’m afraid this is going to be awful. I’ll give it a chance, but only one. The first movie with Brandon Lee as Eric Draven is just too good.
