Ohhh Was He That Starkey Guy? I Think His Name Was. Yup, General Starkey. His role is so small in the film that if one looks away for a minute or two, they won't even realize that he was in it. As for the Stand, I won't even bother with the new version, unless I hear its better. Pretty sure Kirkman took a lot from Flagg to create the Governor, the comic book version, lots of similarities, too many. But I bet Kirkman has claimed King as an influence, he has with Romero and Barker.

I Dont Like Him Deviancy (General Starkey Not Ed Harris) BC Of What He Do In The Book I like his character in both because it was realistic. When I say like, I mean I liked the realism, not liked them as a person, he was one of the "bad guys" and King did a very good job, so did Harris. Its like with Harry Potter, I like Volemort because he's a good bad guy, but I dislike him as a personal.. I don't know if that makes sense.

😂😘 I love the wording that Loki uses to insult the Widow in that scene. "You dull quim!" What an odd insult. Yeah, that was pretty good. 😊 (like she cared. 🙄...the look on his face was priceless when he realized what she'd done. 😂😉)
....luckily, most aren't familiar with the term. 😳😆😉

"Will you ever NOT fall for that?" 😆
That's probably not verbatim, but it's the gist, when for the umpteenth time, Thor charged 'Loki's illusion' and fell through it.🤣😊😉

I just realized its Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman in the upcoming Batman film, so totally down for this. While Catwoman is supposed to be white, its odd, she looks more like the white Catwoman from the comic and games than Hathaway and Michelle who are white. Anywho, still no sign of clayface in the game, if he isn't in it, don't spoil it. I just was hoping he would be but if he isn't it isn't a big issue. for all I know he could have been killed in the comic, haven't read the comic since 92. Zoe Kravitz will make a totally awesome Catwoman. (hmmm...I wonder if we will see any kind of nods to 'Eartha Kitt'...probably not, but it would be cool. Julie Newmar was always the favorite as Catwoman. (Lee Merriweather... 🙄 ) Rewatched Burton's 'Batman Returns' again not long ago...Pheiffer was GREAT...DeVito was too, and of course Walken was/is (always) HOT malevolence.
I liked Hathaway's work in the part! Sorry....Berry?...nope. She was okay, but nothing great. She had a few moments though. (...and when it comes to her being Storm Ororo...hell no! Had she been younger at the time, I would have cast 'Iman', model/actress/Bowie's wife...SHE would have really been Ororo from the comic book. I really like her and her character in Star Trek VI.) Really liked Francis Conroy in that one, and the backstory/explanation her character brought. Story was pretty cool, but damn they failed in a lot of other ways. (Especially with the Catwoman costume...with the exception of the claws, that is.)

On our watch of Lynch's "Dune" in Movie Madness not too long ago...
I truly enjoyed that! applouse
The reason why I had never liked it before, was because when it first came out on VHS, my uncle bought it and I watched it with him. (that part was enjoyable) At the time I was still a teenager, and not familiar with Lynch's work at all.
AND... the main thing...I saw it right after I had just finished reading the book! Herbert's writing was still too fresh in my mind, and I found the film to be disappointing. (That's the way it is with MANY movie adaptions)
Tried to watch it again in the late 90's when it came on SyFy channel, and got busy and distracted, and quickly abandoned the rewatch.
But recently the last rewatch was so much more and better, since it has been so long since I read the book.
Commander osnafrank , I sure hope you get to find a copy and read it. I really think you'll like it. 🙂

Sorry....Berry?...nope. She was okay, but nothing great. She had a few moments though. I totally forgot that Berry was in a Catwoman film, I faintly remember her and Bratt on a date or something hut I erased the rest from my head. I didn't mind her as an early Storm however but that isn't praise, she was a weak character in the X-Men for years, so Berry's weak performance worked. The revamped Storm from the eighties however, Berry would have failed, Jada would have been idea. Not a fan of Jada's really but she has the right moxy to play the revamped Storm. Catwoman isn't an easy character to play but her origin is very important, comic book wise she always was a thief but I think in year One she was also a prostitute, but still a thief at the core. Best to stick with the "klepto" angle they gave her in Dark Knight Rises, makes it more of a compulsion/illness which makes Batman look less iffy by sleeping with someone who is just materialistic.

Thanks Sis! Appreciate it. Yeah...more of the same from Koontz. Yea He Use A Goverment Agents For Bad Guys Alot I Noticing. Yeah...and (maybe it's just me, I haven't read everything by him) but many of his tales have....
... a couple of people on the lam/run for whatever reason, from something. I think there was a novel of his his, titled "Midnight"? ? ?...maybe that was it...it was about a beach front Cali community, where residents began 'evolving' or 'devolving' (using those terms loosely and trying to not give much of the story away). That one was different, and I liked it okay...but still didn't care for much of the subject matter. It did ultimately leave me with an off feeling I didn't like. Another of his was "Hideaway"...I liked that one...and I did try to find that movie with Jeremy Sisto and Jeff Goldblume full and free on youtube for our movie madness...but it's not available. 💔🤨 Sis, I'm going to move these latest posts of ours to the "Movies and Books Discussions" thread, so I don't derail and jack this thread too much. 😊😉 I THINK he wrote "Odd Thomas"? Is that right Commander osnafrank ? I thought I read you saying that somewhere, sorry if I am mistaken. Now I saw that movie on Sci-Fi Channel and I really liked it! If Koontz did write that, then that is very different from what I've seen from him in the past. And I would like to read that book(s?). 🙂 Sorry! I do NOT meanto be a downer for Koontz fans...he's just not my cup of tea for the most part...honestly, I only read his books and Joh Saul's books when I was waiting anxiously to get my hands on my next SK read.

I remember seeing this tv limited series on WGN a few years ago, "100 Code". I would love to see it again, it was really terribly interesting and well done. I love Monaghan and Nyqvist both, and they were excellent together in this. And I want to read the book it is based on.... "Merrick" by Ken Bruen
Has anyone here seen this? Or read the novel? Deviancy ? @kurben ?...maybe one of you have? Just wondering guys. Here's a trailer I found....

I didn´t know there was a Shining Mini Series. The mini series is good but the film is superior. The visual aspect of the film is so good that I could watch it without sound and like it. Director Sidney Pollack said, "I don't even know if I like it but I can't stop watching it."
The mini series is faithful to the book. If you want to watch a film version of the book, the mini series works.
Kubrick's film was "Typical Kubrick ART". And incomparable. I never thought about doing it before, but I agree with you about watching the film with no sound. That WOULD be really cool!
(I have always said that "The Shining" was a great Kubrick film, but not a good SK adaption, as far as giving the watcher ALL the story that is in the book.)
.....'being more faithful to the book' was all I was really interested in when it comes to the mini series.
(Sidney Pollack?...hmmm...what kind of relationship could/did he have with Kubrick and both versions of The Shining? I haven't looked these things up. Sorry...lol, I'm just not that kind of stalker quality. 😂 Pollack got my attention here, because he was one of the stars in Kubrick's last film "Eyes wide Shut". As far as I remember, Pollack has been a director, less often an actor, and also a producer? Dang TacoMan, I've slept and drank A LOT over the years! 😄😉)
