I'm actually watching Resurrection right now. Out of the original films, it isn't as good as the first three, but its still a lot of fun. Ridley is working on the sequel to Covenant right now, which still takes place before Ripley "exists" but he's going to do one or two more films and end things where the first Alien film starts. In short, I like all of the Alien films except for the Alien/Predator films, I just found those to be silly. The first Aliens vs Predator is like a masterpiece when compared to Covenant or Joss Whedon's Resurrection, in my opinion.

I love that flick "The Faculty"! A really good campy-ish sci fi ride! (Seen this one Commander osnafrank ?) The cast, story and all. It was nice to see Piper Laurie again. And Josh Hartnett is always good in my book.
.....if you look at the ending credits, you see 'Summer Phoenix' had a very small very brief part. (....yeah, I'm one of the weirdos that enjoys the credits) You don't see that Phoenix sister much, like 'Rain Phoenix'. I think that whole family must have been artistic. Rain Phoenix looks so much like her brother Joaquin. 🙂 The Part That Really Gets Me Saying WTH About The Faculty is That.
Famke Jansens Characters Had Her Head Cut off an You See it Crawling Away Still an Her Body Still Walking an At The End of The Movie she is Back to Normal lol...also I Like That Josh Hartnett Alot too an Also Jordana Brewster.
If I recall correctly, you could say the same about Bebe Newirth (the principal) didn't they both come back and were restored, after the 'mother alien' was done in? ....like with some vampire and werewolf flicks? 😊😉 It's been a very long time since I've seen this movie. Time for another rewatch!

@kurben I Agree About Sin City 2 it was Ok but Just wasn't as Good...The Characters in 1 Just Stood Out Alot more also R.I.P to Michael Clark Duncan Who is in Sin City 1 as Well. Frank Miller's work is always good, some of his ways are outdated, he still always makes women very sexual and dresses them skimpy in his comics, which carries over to his films. But they are equal to men when it comes to strength and taking care of themselves, I mean the prostitutes in Sin City may have been overly sexualized but they kicked serious a§§ in the comic and the film, more so in the film. Dwight would have been doomed if it wasn't for them, well actually he was doomed in the comic, not sure what his fate is in the film since I haven't seen the second one yet. The comic was black and white so I liked that the film did the same with hints of color. But in the end, my favorite Frank Miller comic to film franchise would be 300, the sequel is even better but I'm not sure how much input he had in the sequel. But as I've said before, Frank Miller and Alan Moore are my two favorite comic book writers whose comics have become some of my favorite films as well. Its just amusing that they can't stand each other. If they were to work together, they'd create something wicked but that'll never happen... Going back to Tarantino, he borrows a lot from manga's and other things, which is why Kill Bill was good and I'm pretty sure he got a lot of ideas from some comic or manga when it comes to Pulp Fiction. I didn't like Pulp Fiction at all when I first saw it but several years passed and I saw it again and was totally into it. And what was in that briefcase? There's been talk that it was gold and even some that said it was their bosses soul. But whatever it was, Jackson was willing to die to protect it. I finally got around to watching Rambo: Last Blood finally, and I was a bit let down by it since the last Rambo film was pretty good. But then I looked around and I came across an extended cut of the film, so I got a refund on the theatrical cut and got the extended cut, and its a LOT better than the theatrical cut. I think its only ten minutes longer but they build the relationship up more between Rambo and the girl he sees as his niece, which makes his revenge seem more warranted. Without that ten minutes, he went on a revenge kick over a girl that didn't seem to really be that important to him. While I liked the extended cut a lot, they still left out one thing. At the end of the last film he finally goes back to the US but we just see him walking down a road. At the start of the new one he's living at his fathers ranch, which is now his ranch, and ten years has gone by, which is realistic since the last film came out in 2008 I think. But he's living with this old lady at the ranch and her grand daughter, and its obvious he's been friends with the old lady for I guess ten years, and he's practically raised the granddaughter. Basically, they took big parts from Man On Fire when it comes the Mexican cartel issue, and the revenge part of course, and they took parts from Taken since the girl is abducted by slave traders, and then they gave it a gloomier outcome and added far more graphic violence. In short, I watched it twice already and I think its going to end up on my top 5 favorite revenge films. But if they're smart, they won't make anymore. Rambo is old and beat down, and he's all alone again, and he said he'd continue to live for those he lost, and at the end, it shows clips from the earlier films and then he rides off into the sunset on his horse. I'd use spoilers but it's not a new movie, it came out three years ago, I'm just behind. Tomorrow.. I may watch Kill Bill since talking about those movies got me re-interested. Dunno.. also watched to watch Costner's Robin Hood, its my favorite Robin Hood film. As much as I adore Ridley Scott's work and like Russel Crowe, I didn't like how they changed the story. I like the more traditional story... I like how Tartantino put at the beginning of Kill Bill :"Created by Q and U"....reference back to Fox Force Five talked about by Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction.
and....
I have only got to see "Rambo Blood" once when it hit HBO or somewhere like that. I remember really liking what I saw and want to see it again. Came across a youtube vid today, reminded me of your post here, had some scenes from the movie in it. Dang it, can't find it now. I think it was a Shinedown tune....been busy and distracted today.

Joss Whedon's Resurrection, in my opinion Whedon is why Resurrection is a good film but not great. Whedon empowered Ryder's character and Ripley extremely well, but he's always been good with female empowerment. The best scene to show how he does his thing is when Ripley just totally puts the smack down on Pearlman's character, she tore down the tough guy in seconds and he no longer came off like some alpha male relic after she smacked him down. What the film lacks is the psychological horror I like about the first and third, and it also doesn't have the intense action like the second, which is why its lower on my list. Giger and Ridley created a work of art, I mean I've been a fan of Giger's artwork since I was a kid, and Ridley put his work on the big screen in many ways, and then put his dark sexual/twisted overtones into the mix. Its like chocolate and peanut butter.

....Man, I tell you what...I saw Tommy Flanagan (great actor) in, I think it was called, "Rat Catcher"...thank God for subtitles!
Same thing about a movie that David Thewlis did, cannot remember the name of it though. Unfortunately. (Thewlis, another great actor) Tommy's an excellent actor. He was born not too far from me. We have, more or less, the same accent. Cool! I have always liked him, in everything I have seen him in. Even though he had a smallish part in 'Gadiator' he was excellent. Really would have liked to have seen more of him.
I think the first movie I saw him in was 'Face Off' with Nick Cage as one of Castor Troi's henchmen. I thought he was fascinating. Very handsome, even with scars. For aquite a few years I had wondered what hapened to him, may be a car wreck or something, (though the scars looked...more deliberate) then finally learned what a "Glascow Smile" is. 🙂

Currently watching the Rocky films slightly out of order.
The first two are the gems but the rest of the franchise wasn't bad at all, and unlike most 80's films that touched on the American/Russian thing, Rocky actually went on a rant about how we all need to get along at the end of the 4th film, they didn't end it with him being like, "I beat the Russian... neiner... neiner". The one thing I'd have removed from the 4th, the stupid robot, I don't know what they were thinking with the robot thing, I'd say it was there to add levity but I think they were jumping the gun because around the same time Omni magazine was saying we'd all have personal robot servants by the late eighties.
Maybe in another 20 years?
Ya never know.

Asimov covered that 'terrorstory' in "I Robot". (so have so many others, just look at the whole Terminator series) Though they are coming up with those damn faulty self driving P.O.S' more and more .....to be continued on that. 😄 Love that "I Robot" flick!
"Its the goddamn ROBOTS, John!"😆😊
